Job Description CASE MANAGER QUEENS SUPERVISED RELEASE PROGRAM POSTED: 5/7/2025 ABOUT CJA The New York City Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) is a not-for-profit service and research organization that operates in partnership with the New York City Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice. CJA is the City's main pretrial services agency, combining operations, pilot projects, and research under one roof. CJA utilizes procedural justice practices to provide pretrial services to over 100,000 persons arrested annually in New York City. Information collected about these arrestees and subsequent case processing is maintained in the agency's internal and externally shared database systems, which are used to conduct descriptive and evaluation research on arrestee characteristics, case processing and court outcomes, and on issues and potential reforms to criminal justice policy in New York City. CJA's programs operate in the criminal courts and detention facilities 24 hours a day seven days a week within the 5 boroughs of NYC, employing over 280 employees, citywide. PROGRAM SUMMARY CJA operates a Supervised Release Program in Queens Criminal Court for defendants of all ages who are charged with felonies and misdemeanors, and who present a substantial likelihood of detention, but are at risk of failing to appear in court if released on recognizance. The program, which operates during the day and night court, screens targeted defendants for release, subject to specific conditions including maintaining face-to-face and telephone contact with the program, participating in a screening protocol for substance abuse and mental health issues, and agreeing to program monitoring and reporting of non-compliance, re-arrests and scheduled court appearances. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Supervising Clinical Case Manager and under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Case Manager is a dynamic, knowledgeable, and experienced individual with a social service, psychology, or clinical background to help make an impact on the ever-changing role of the court system and alternative initiatives aimed at reducing detention and crime rates in the city. The Case Manager hired for this position will be working on a team that serves both youth and adult clients (ages 16 years and older). Job Description Job Title: Bilingual Clinical Case Coordinator Job Summary: CASES is currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bilingual Clinical Case Coordinator for our Pretrial Services Case Management Team. Rapidly after release into the program, the Bilingual Clinical Case Coordinator conducts Supervision Introduction/Orientation meetings with new participants to review supervision conditions that will be required under the supervision plan. The Bilingual Clinical Case Coordinator assists participants to comply with supervision appointments and court appearances during the pendency of their legal case. The Bilingual Clinical Case Coordinator will conduct ongoing service need assessments with participants and develop collaborative service plans addressing identified needs and goals. The goal is to increase engagement in community treatment services and support participants to achieve their self-identified goals for treatment, recovery, rehabilitation, and crime-free community integration. Program participants include youth and young adults, people with substance use disorders and mental illnesses, and individuals who are homeless. SRP participants have not been found guilty of a crime and are not mandated to engage in treatment or other services. Essential Position Functions: • Responsible for supervising the physical condition of the facility, including but not limited to apartment inspections, conducting quarterly fire drills, overseeing self-preservation drills, and ensuring residents live in a clean and safe environment., • Provides preventive interventions to individuals to reduce unnecessary decompensation, hospitalizations, and relapses, and clearly documents all contacts and interventions in AWARDS., • Available 24/7 for crisis management related to residents or building issues., • Ensures the delivery and documentation of client services, including monthly service-linked progress notes, collateral contact notes, monthly summary notes, service/support plans, assessments, and consents., • Monitors all on-site staff during evening hours and provides direct supervision to the Community Resource Specialist., • Assists the Program Director and Assistant Director with staff scheduling, meetings, training, and new hire orientation., • Supports the Program Director and Assistant Director in ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, including facilitating appropriate admissions and discharges, maintaining census, incident reporting, and completing required documentation. Also attends internal agency meetings and trainings., • Assumes all managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Program Director, under the direct supervision of the Assistant Program Director., • Ensures the monthly group calendar is updated regularly, and collects attendance records and workshop materials for administrative binders., • Performs other duties consistent with the program's goals and objectives, as assigned by the Program Director, Area Director, AVP, VP, and/or SVP.Requirements:, • High School Diploma required., • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field preferred., • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a supportive residential program and/or with individuals experiencing serious mental illness and homelessness., • Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, including crisis intervention and managing trauma-triggered behaviors., • Full-time schedule: 35 hours per week, five days including one weekend day, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM., • Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills., • Ability to remain calm under pressure; must be stress-resistant, flexible, and open to feedback., • Creative and solution-oriented team player., • Willingness and ability to perform CPR, First Aid, AED, Crisis Intervention, and administer Naloxone., • Experience supervising both clinical and operational staff., • Preferred: Knowledge and experience with the AWARDS case management system., • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
