The Counselor / Coach provides attendance outreach, individual and group counseling, and supports the implementation of the GSS/DOE partnership school program. JOB SUMMARY: As a key member of the SkillSpring (f/k/a GCD) department, the Workforce Programs Case Coordinator will engage with current participants in the young adult and high school programs in an effort to prepare for and secure employment. The role of the Workforce Programs Care Coordinator is to collaborate with SkillSpring participants using the care management process including: assessing a person’s functional level, their physical, cognitive, social-emotional status and their support system; developing a plan of care that addresses the needs and problems identified and incorporating the services that are needed to enhance the current support system; identifying and arranging for coordinated delivery of those services; monitoring changes in the person’s condition, and reassessing the person’s needs on a regular basis. This team member will serve in a coaching role and effectively advocate for program participants to have their various needs met with compassion and grace. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY City Parks Learn has operated interdisciplinary environmental education programs in schools and parks since 1992. Eco-Innovators is a program for 9th - 12th graders that gives students access to environmental STEM learning and introduces them to NYC infrastructure and leaders as they work to invent creative projects that push the environmental resiliency movement forward in their own communities. Students make real change as they explore urban infrastructure and advocacy tools and learn techniques to help solve challenging environmental issues, including expanding green spaces, increasing recycling and reducing waste, and improving energy efficiency. City Parks Foundation seeks an experienced environmental educator with deep knowledge of and passion for environmental resiliency and community advocacy. Reporting to the Senior Manager of STEM Pathways, the successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in delivering instruction to and working with adolescents in a project-based, out-of-school time setting. During the school year, the Eco-Innovators Program Manager manages and implements after-school programming for up to 25 high school students at each of 4 locations, using site-specific, inquiry-based lessons to stimulate meaningful learning experiences for students in their own communities. In the summer season, the Program Manager will implement an intensive version of the program for continuing juniors/seniors at one site from July through mid-August, Monday through Thursday (9am - 3pm). The mission of Seeds to Trees is to educate elementary and middle school students about urban ecology, forest ecology, marine ecology, parks stewardship and conservation using parks as an outdoor classroom. CAMBA’s Flagstone Family Center provides comprehensive case management services to 160 families who are in a Tier II transitional residence program for homeless families. The facility consists of eight (8) four (4) story walk up apartment buildings on the east and west sides of the street. There will be two main entrances: one for the east side of the street and one for the west. Each building contains 20 apartments of varying sizes, each fully self-contained. Reporting to the Community Partnerships Coordinator, the Youth Engagement Specialist will play a key role in both developing and overseeing youth programming at Amsterdam Houses and supporting the Justice Center’s broader community engagement initiatives across the borough of Manhattan. By working with community stakeholders, local leaders, community-based organizations, and the young people themselves, the Youth Engagement Specialist will seek to understand quality of life and public safety challenges for the community then co-lead the Justice Center’s programming built in response to those findings. Reports To: Program Director Location: 1053 41st St, Brooklyn, NY, 11219 Hours: 35 Hours/Week; 8-4pm / Non-Exempt Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 Major Duties: * Outreach to potential internship providers and employers to identify and secure full, part time and summer internship and employment opportunities for students of WBCHS. * Create and maintain internship opportunities based on student interests, available local opportunities and referrals. * Match and place participants into placements developed and track their progress through 1:1 sessions, mid year and end of year evaluations. * Oversee placement and monitoring of participants at internship/job sites and obtain employer feedback. * Develop curriculum and facilitate weekly seminar groups that meet once weekly for students in internship placements. * Identify, develop and utilize tools appropriate to provide accurate assessment of participants' work readiness and skill development. * Conduct administrative tasks for student interns such as onboarding them into the payroll system, track, input and manage student timesheet and hours. * Onboard and orientate new student interns regarding internship practices, policies and procedures. * Collaborate with students’ Advocate Counselor to ensure alignment in supporting students through their social- emotional and academic progress and goals to fulfill graduation requirements. * Collaborate with the Director of Career Connections and Economic Mobility Specialist of WBCHS to develop and implement in-house work based learning opportunities for participants in the form of job shadowing, certification programs and internships and related work based learning activities and experiences to promote career exploration. * Work with the Director of Career Connections and Economic Mobility Specialist to connect seniors to a solid post secondary plan. * Liaison with the post-secondary team on topics related to job and career readiness and exploration skills/competency development (i.e., resume writing, interviewing skills, completing job applications). * Attend division wide meetings with Internship Coordinators and Economic Mobility Specialists in the division * Ensure timely completion of Salesforce documentation, other documentation of work, and statistics, and assist DOE to ensure accuracy of student records. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree required. * Bilingual Spanish preferred. * Experience working with adolescents in employment or vocational field in 1:1 and group sessions. * Strong organizational, teamwork, verbal and written communication skills. * Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. * Ability to travel to GSS Program Sites throughout Brooklyn * Ability to work weekends, including overnight when necessary. * Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and youth development perspective.
