In the context of the Global Policy Network (GPN), the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) develops policies and guidance to support the execution of UNDP’s Strategic Plan. The Planet Hub promotes and scales integrated whole‑of‑governance approaches and nature‑based solutions to reduce poverty and inequalities, strengthen livelihoods, mitigate conflict and displacement, and improve governance systems. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liResearch, collect, analyze, and present the work BIOFIN has been doing in its 130+ countries. /li liReview international best practices to identify case studies of nature‑based finance solutions that can serve as examples for BIOFIN work. /li liAssist the BIOFIN finance sources database with new entries and develop guidance materials on financing solutions for BIOFIN teams in different countries. /li liContribute to developing knowledge products on cross‑country analysis and financing solutions for biodiversity conservation. /li liSynthesize and summarize research outcomes and lessons learned into formats tailored to BIOFIN thematic activities. /li liSupport the organization of events, webinars, meetings, regional calls, and assist in maintaining documentation of meetings. /li liSupport the development of BIOFIN knowledge products such as blogs, articles, and other media. /li liMonitor, analyze, and synthesize developments, press clippings, and reports of BIOFIN, and maintain a database of BIOFIN news coverage, updating it regularly. /li liAttend meetings when required and take meeting minutes. /li liParticipate in regular interns’ meetings and report to supervisor. /li liSupport the operational work of BIOFIN including HR, travel, and events. /li liSupport other ad‑hoc activities as relevant and needed. /li /ul h3Competencies /h3 ul libAchieve Results: /b Plans and monitors own work, pays attention to details, and delivers quality work by deadlines. /li libThink Innovatively: /b Open to creative ideas or known risks, is a pragmatic problem solver, and makes improvements. /li libLearn Continuously: /b Open‑minded and curious, shares knowledge, learns from mistakes, and asks for feedback. /li libAdapt with Agility: /b Adapts to change, constructively handles ambiguity or uncertainty, and is flexible. /li libAct with Determination: /b Shows drive and motivation, delivers calmly in the face of adversity, and is confident. /li libEngage and Partner: /b Demonstrates compassion and understanding towards others, and forms positive relationships. /li libEnable Diversity and Inclusion: /b Appreciates and respects differences, is aware of unconscious bias, and confronts discrimination. /li /ul h3Required Education and Experience /h3 pApplicants to the UNDP internship programme must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: /p ul liBe enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) in fields such as Finance, Economics, Communications, Social Studies, Environmental or related Studies. /li liBe enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the same fields. /li liHave recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation. /li liBe enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. /li /ul pExperience: /p ul liPrevious related work experience in a national or international entity is an asset. /li liExperience in finance areas is an asset. /li liExperience in biodiversity, conservation, ecosystems, or environment related areas is an asset. /li liExperience in communication‑related activities; familiarity with social media platforms or digital media channels is an asset. /li /ul pLanguage requirements: /p ul liFluency in English is required. /li liKnowledge of UN languages is an asset. /li /ul h3Internship Conditions /h3 pApplicants should become familiar with the internship conditions prior to signing an internship agreement. The intern will report to the BIOFIN Environmental Finance Analyst for Asia and Pacific Region. /p h3Financial Aspects, Expenses and Medical Benefits /h3 ul liUNDP will not pay for the internship but may provide a stipend in monthly amounts in accordance with the UNDP Internship policy. /li liUNDP accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance for the intern or for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness during the internship period. Interns, whether engaged in‑person or remotely, are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of their internship with UNDP and must provide a self‑certification of good health prior to starting the internship. /li liUNDP will not reimburse the medical insurance of the intern. Any costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship assignment will be the responsibility of the intern. /li liUNDP is not responsible for any claims by an intern or third party in the case of loss or damage to property or death or personal injury as a result of actions or omissions on the part of the intern during the internship period. /li /ul h3Working Conditions /h3 ul liWhen completing an in‑person internship in a UNDP Office, interns must be provided with the workspace and equipment necessary to accomplish the internship activities. /li liWhen completing a remote internship, interns will be responsible for providing their own equipment, internet, and communication access and workspace. /li /ul h3Subsequent Employment /h3 pThere is no expectation of employment with UNDP following an internship. /p h3Important Note /h3 ul liInterns are considered gratis personnel. They are not staff members. /li liInterns may not be sought or accepted as substitutes for staff to be recruited against authorized posts. /li liInterns may not represent UNDP in any official capacity. /li /ul h3US Permanent Resident Notice /h3 pUnder US immigration law, acceptance of a staff position with UNDP may have significant implications for US Permanent Residents. Applicants for professional level posts must relinquish their US Permanent Resident status and accept a G‑4 visa, or have submitted a valid application for US citizenship prior to commencement of employment.
