We are seeking a seasoned and UK-qualified General Counsel (England & Wales) to lead and oversee our EMEA legal and compliance functions. This executive-level role requires a commercially astute legal leader with a deep understanding of international business operations, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and cross-border transactions. The successful candidate will serve as the primary legal advisor to senior leadership, playing a strategic role in business decision-making, regulatory risk management, and governance across the region. Main responsibilities LEGAL Legal Leadership & Strategy • Act as trusted advisor to senior management on all legal, regulatory, and strategic matters across the EMEA region., • Lead the regional Legal Department, managing and mentoring a high-performing team of commercial & transactional lawyers (qualified in Spain, Germany, and the UK)., • Provide proactive, business-focused legal advice across a range of commercial, regulatory, and corporate areas., • Collaborate closely with global legal, compliance, and operational teams to align legal strategy with corporate goals., • Lead negotiations and draft complex, high-value commercial contracts including PV product sales (modules, inverters, batteries), EPC and turnkey agreements, O&M contracts, and inter-company arrangements., • Provide legal structuring and support for trade finance and security instruments (e.g., parent company guarantees, LC / SBLCs)., • Manage legal aspects of business development, procurement, and strategic partnerships across jurisdictions., • Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the EMEA compliance framework, including training, reporting, and risk controls., • Ensure compliance with EU-level and national regulations including Batteries Regulation, WEEE, supply chain due diligence, anti-forced labour rules, and human rights standards., • Manage anti-bribery and corruption controls, KYC / AML due diligence, sanctions screening, and regulatory investigations., • Oversee GDPR and broader data protection compliance, including internal processes, data governance policies, and incident response., • Develop and implement regional legal policies, contract templates, and internal governance protocols in coordination with global legal function., • Manage relationships with external counsel to ensure quality advice and cost-efficiency.
