Join our team as Maintenance Manager (Chief Engineer) at our new hotel opening, in Paris! About Us Pestana Hotel Group is Portugal’s largest international hospitality group, with over 100 hotels in 17 countries across four continents. Our newest four-star hotel, featuring 210 rooms, will be located on the Left Bank (Rive Gauche) of the River Seine, between Gare d’Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon. What You Will Be Doing: This is a unique pre-opening opportunity. During the initial phase of the project, the successful candidate will work closely with the project team, contractors, consultants, and suppliers throughout the construction and fit-out of the hotel, ensuring that all technical installations and building systems meet the required quality, safety, and operational standards. Once the hotel opens, the role will transition into that of Maintenance Manager (Chief Engineer), taking full responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance, technical operations, and ongoing upkeep of the property. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of the hotel. Key Responsibilities: During the Pre-Opening Phase: • Represent the hotel throughout the construction and fit-out phases, working closely with developers, contractors, consultants, and local authorities., • Monitor the installation, testing, and commissioning of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, lighting, lifts, and other mechanical and technical infrastructure., • Review technical specifications and ensure all installations comply with project requirements, local regulations, and hotel operational standards., • Identify and resolve technical issues before handover to ensure a smooth hotel opening., • Participate in site inspections, progress meetings, and final snagging activities., • Support the planning of maintenance procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, and asset registers prior to opening., • Assist in preparing the engineering department for hotel operations, including procurement of tools, equipment, spare parts, and technical documentation. After the Opening: • Oversee the overall maintenance and technical operations of the hotel, • Plan and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities, • Supervise external contractors and service providers, • Manage the maintenance budget and control departmental expenses, • Ensure optimal performance of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.), • Monitor and report on utility consumption (electricity, water, and gas), • Procure materials and manage technical inventory, • Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments, • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations We Are Looking For Someone Who: • Has proven experience in hotel pre-opening projects, construction, refurbishment, or major renovation works., • Has proven experience in a similar role within hospitality industry (Chief Engineer / Maintenance Manager/Assistant), • Has a strong understanding of building services, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, lighting, fire safety systems, and general mechanical infrastructure., • Has experience coordinating multiple contractors and stakeholders throughout construction projects., • Is confident reviewing technical installations and ensuring they are completed to the highest quality and safety standards., • Can successfully transition from a construction project environment into hotel operations after opening., • Is familiar with French regulations and safety standards, • Demonstrates a hands-on, proactive, and solution-oriented approach, • Has strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, • Is fluent in English and French (additional languages, such as Portuguese, are a plus), • Is eligible to work in France, • Is already based in the Paris area What We Offer: • Competitive salary aligned with the French hospitality market, • Opportunity to grow within an international hotel group, • A dynamic and collaborative work environment within one of Europe’s leading hospitality group’s
