You will receive full 1-on-1 mentorship as well as external training to develop your skills in emerging digital metrology systems.What You'll Do• Inspection Process Automation: Program, test, and validate automated or semi-automated metrology machinery, with a primary focus on Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).• Method Optimisation: Review existing inspection methods for complex machined components to remove labour-intensive manual checks and improve production flow.• Drawing & Specification Review: Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and surface finish requirements as part of your daily quality checks.• Bench Metrology & Inspection: Apply physical inspection knowledge using manual gauges, shadowgraphs, micrometres, and other standard metrology equipment.• Emerging Technology Support: Help identify, adopt, and integrate future inspection automation and digital metrology solutions as the role evolves.• Quality Validation: Execute measurement method validation and support investigations when product or equipment performance is uncertain.What We're Looking For• CMM Programming Experience: Proven, hands-on experience programming a CMM is a strict requirement; candidates must be able to generate programs rather than simply running existing ones.• Metrology Baseline: Practical metrology inspection experience, including bench work, manual gauges, and shadowgraph operation.• Drawing Literacy: The absolute ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to establish correct acceptance criteria.• Preferred Background: We are looking for experienced metrology inspectors seeking upward progression into a specialised technical role. Defence, aerospace, or automotive sector experience is highly desirable.• Technical Literacy: Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required. An engineering degree, HNC, or HND is highly valued but not mandatory.• The Mindset: A logical problem solver who can operate with training and support without needing continuous supervision.
