Position: Head of Engineering Location: Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire Salary: Up to £90,000 + Benefits KO2 are working with a leading technology company in Letchworth Garden City, who are seeking a Head of Engineering to drive the strategic and technical direction of their product development function. This is a rare opportunity to lead a highly capable team while remaining actively involved in the design and delivery of complex electronic systems. As Head of Engineering, you will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team covering electronics, embedded systems, and hardware development. You’ll set the technical roadmap, champion best practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative products that meet demanding performance and reliability standards. This is a hands-on leadership role — ideal for someone who thrives on guiding others while still engaging deeply with electronic design, architecture, and technical problem solving. Key Responsibilities • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of electronics and embedded engineers., • Define the technical strategy and oversee the full product development lifecycle — from concept to production., • Stay technically involved, contributing to electronic design reviews, troubleshooting, and system optimisation., • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across design, testing, and development processes., • Work closely with project management, operations, and senior leadership to align engineering output with business goals., • Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and professional development within the engineering team., • Champion engineering excellence, ensuring products meet rigorous quality, safety, and reliability standards. About You • Proven track record in engineering leadership, ideally at Team Leader, Manager, Principal, or Head of Engineering level., • Strong technical background in electronic circuit design, embedded systems, or hardware development., • Confident leading multidisciplinary teams in a hands-on, technically involved capacity., • Excellent communication, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement skills., • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance technical depth and organisational leadership.
