Job Title: Purchasing Officer Pay: £25,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience) Location: Newport Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible Shift: Monday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:45 | Friday, 08:00 - 12:00 (37 hours per week) Contract: Permanent / Full-time JDR Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Purchasing Officer to join our client's Procurement Department . This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within a growing manufacturing business, supporting an efficient supply chain and ensuring materials and services are delivered on time and within budget. Full training will be provided, with opportunities for career development and progression within the business. The Role: As a Purchasing Officer , you'll be responsible for assisting in the effective management of the company's supply chain to meet business needs and cost targets. Your responsibilities will include: - Controlling purchase orders for sub-contract services - Maintaining strong supplier and sub-contract partnerships - Expediting products and parts to meet production schedules - Arranging material and goods collections when required - Processing sales department requests for sub-contract materials and quotations - Negotiating cost-effective packages and contracts - Identifying Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) opportunities - Representing the Purchasing Department in production and planning meetings - Supporting the Purchasing Manager with MRP/ERP processes, RFQs, engineering changes, and other purchasing activities when required About You: We're looking for someone who: - Has at least 3 years' experience in a procurement or purchasing role (essential) - Ideally has experience within a bespoke manufacturing or mechanical engineering environment - Has knowledge of base metals/alloys, machining techniques, or foundry casting (desirable) - Possesses excellent negotiation and communication skills - Is confident using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams) - Can analyse data and present information clearly - Is commercially aware, detail-oriented, and proactive - Can build strong working relationships and manage multiple priorities effectively CIPS qualification would be a strong advantage.
