We are seeking a skilled Machine Borer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have experience operating all types of boring machines, particularly horizontal boring machines and jig borers. They will be responsible for working to fine tolerances, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring all tasks are carried out in compliance with company procedures and safety regulations. This is a shift-based role (Monday-Friday) Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate a range of horizontal and vertical boring machines to achieve high-precision tolerances. Manufacture components in line with technical specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. Interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings, specifications, and job instructions. Take ownership of assigned tasks, working independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency. Conduct in-process inspection and measurement using appropriate tools, including working confidently with imperial units. Ensure full compliance with company procedures, including OHM, CMM, and SOPM requirements. Maintain accurate production and quality records, including completion of Practical Experience Record (PER) documentation where required. Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe working environment at all times. Carry out routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is kept in safe, clean, and operational condition. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency. Provide training and guidance to colleagues where appropriate, based on experience and qualifications. Use computer systems for documentation, reporting, and basic data management (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases). Education and Experience Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent T rained in machine shop technology and machining practices. Extensive experience operating horizontal boring machines and working knowledge of jig borers. Knowledge of CNC boring is preferable. Aerospace industry experience is preferred but not essential. Strong understanding of precision machining and quality control. Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
