Lead CNC Turner We are seeking an experienced Lead CNC Turner to take responsibility for the turning section within our clients machine shop. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to support workflow, quality, and continuous improvement across the department.Key Responsibilities • Set, operate, and programme CNC lathes (including Y-axis, sliding head, sub-spindle, standard CNC, and manual machines where required), • Interpret detailed engineering drawings and machine to tight tolerances, • Take ownership of job setup, tooling selection, and process optimisation, • Ensure quality standards through in-process inspection and final checks, • Lead the turning section to meet production targets and delivery deadlines, • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions, • Liaise with Production Planning to optimise job sequencing, • Maintain tooling, equipment, and housekeeping standards, • Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce waste, • Ensure compliance with health & safety proceduresSkills & Experience Required, • Proven experience as a CNC Turner within a precision engineering environment, • Strong experience setting and operating CNC lathes (Fanuc, Haas, or similar controls advantageous), • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately, • Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards, • Solid understanding of tooling, materials, and machining processes, • Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing desirable, • Previous leadership or mentoring experience advantageous, • Ideally with offline programming experience with Fusion 360 (not essential)
