About the Role A new opportunity has arisen for a Multi Skilled Technician to join the engineering team responsible for surface, shaft and facilities maintenance across a large industrial site. You will carry out statutory inspections, planned maintenance, repairs and installations across a diverse range of heavy equipment, ensuring full legal compliance and maximising machine uptime. The role requires both mechanical and electrical capability, with an electrical bias preferred. You’ll work in a safety-critical, fast-paced environment where problem-solving, rapid response and professional engineering standards are key. About the Person You will be a time-served Multi Skilled Technician with qualifications to a recognised engineering standard. You should thrive in a heavy industrial environment and be comfortable working with large plant, machinery and complex systems. This role suits someone who: • Has strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience, • Enjoys fault-finding and resolving breakdowns quickly, • Works well under pressure, • Takes pride in safety, compliance and high engineering standards, • Is adaptable and able to work across multiple disciplines (welding, rigging, basic instrumentation, etc.) An electrical bias and experience within mining, quarrying or heavy plant environments would be highly advantageous. Key Skills & Experience Essential • Time-served Multi Skilled Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, • Mechanical and electrical maintenance background, • Strong fault-finding capability, • Experience with heavy industrial equipment, • Welding, • Burning, • Rigging, • Basic instrumentation, • IT literacy, • Strong communication skills Key Duties • Routine maintenance and inspections to maximise equipment availability, • Breakdown repairs, troubleshooting and restoration of plant machinery, • Mechanical and electrical installations and modifications, • Multi-disciplinary support to improve equipment performance, • Cross-skilled tasks such as burning, welding and rigging, • Ensuring full compliance with statutory and internal procedures, • Upholding high standards of safety, housekeeping and continuous improvement

Excellent Salary HOURS: 40 HOURS PER WEEK Night Shift Monday - Thursday Due to our continued success as one of the country's leading suppliers of heavy commercial vehicle Hire we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic who takes pride in providing excellent customer service and has a passion for working with the best. Based at our Cheshire branch, you will have the opportunity to independently perform spot repairs on components in all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic vehicle systems and components by finding and understanding the service information within a professional workshop. You will also receive excellent training at our bespoke training centre to develop you to the next level. RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out simple work on the vehicle's electrical system and use information from the wiring diagrams and manuals for electrical components Perform allocated work within the time frame given to the customers Diagnose, check and set the mechanical systems Set up accessories and specific equipment on the vehicles As required, attend to disabled vehicles at the roadside or on customer's premises, following appropriate routines and procedures including roadside safety laws and regulations Provide technical advice to customers and colleagues Carry out routine inspections, maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises Liaise with parts department to attain parts Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE: Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician) or proven experience repairing & maintaining vehicles Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines Ability to work under pressure Ability to actively seek solutions to problems Ability to work as part of a team Good verbal communication skills Excellent customer care skills Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements LGV/HGV/PCV licence an advantage Working for Firow is not just about the job.
