We are seeking to appoint a Café & Hospitality Supervisor to support the day-to-day operation of Jodrell Banks food and drink offer across the Planet Café and First Light Pavilion Café, together with event hospitality. This hands-on role, is central to ensuring our café and event hospitality deliver a high-quality service. The role holder will support maintaining excellent standards, and contribute to a memorable visit to Jodrell Bank, together with supporting the development of the catering offer to maximise sales and enhance the visitor experience. The Café Supervisor maintains a visible presence on the café floor, supervising front-of-house staff and leading by example to ensure a welcoming, professional and efficient service for visitors. In this role, you will: Supervise the daily operation of the Planet Café and First Light Pavilion Café Deliver excellent customer service and ensure a welcoming, clean and well-presented environment Lead by example on the café floor, supporting and motivating front of house team members Prepare and serve food in line with food safety and quality standards Support the delivery of catering for events, conferences and evening functions Assist with stock control, deliveries and maintaining accurate records You will be an integral part of the Jodrell Bank team, working closely with the Catering & Hospitality Manager and Assistant Manager to ensure the café offer and event hospitality reflects the values and high standards of Jodrell Bank. You will have experience in a supervisory role within a catering/events environment, with a strong understanding of customer service, food safety and health & safety practices. Youll be organised, proactive and confident in supporting and motivating a small team in a fast-paced visitor environment. A natural positive attitude towards a busy/pressurised environment and the ability to work flexibly across the week to the requirements the business is essential to this role. Previous experience running catering and event operations within a cultural venue/institution is preferred but not essential. PLEASE NOTE Jodrell Bank does not open on Mondays (except for School Holidays), and therefore working hours are generally between Tuesday and Sunday. The normal hours for this role are 28 hours per week, worked across a 7-day operation including weekends, bank holidays and occasional evening events. Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is rurally located, 20 miles south of Manchester, and applicants will need their own means of transportation in order to travel to and from work.
