    London

The Travelling Curator is seeking an energetic, exceptionally organised and commercially minded Sales & Operations Executive to help establish and grow a distinctive luxury interiors and collectables business. The founder has personally sourced and invested substantially in an international collection of furniture, art, lighting, decorative objects, jewellery and timepieces. He is currently developing the brand, brochures and presentation and now requires an experienced individual to work alongside him in organising the business and actively bringing the collection to market. This is a varied, hands-on role combining administration, business organisation and sales. The successful candidate will help create the systems and structure required to manage the collection effectively while taking responsibility for identifying suitable buyers, developing opportunities and converting enquiries into completed sales. Relevant industry experience and an established professional network are essential. We are looking for someone who already understands the luxury interiors, art, design or collectables market and has genuine contacts they can lawfully approach from the beginning. This may include interior designers, private clients, collectors, property professionals, stylists, dealers and other relevant trade contacts. The right person should be able to study the collection, recognise which pieces may suit particular clients or projects and immediately begin making intelligent introductions. Sales and business development responsibilities: • Reviewing the collection and identifying the most suitable potential buyers for individual pieces, • Using an established professional network to introduce the collection to appropriate clients and contacts, • Identifying and approaching interior designers, private collectors, property professionals and relevant trade buyers, • Matching particular pieces to suitable interiors, projects, clients and commercial opportunities, • Finding effective sales channels for the different categories within the collection, • Generating new leads and following up every credible enquiry consistently, • Building and maintaining an organised database of prospective buyers and professional contacts, • Arranging private appointments and presenting pieces professionally, • Negotiating confidently while protecting the value of the collection, • Turning interest into completed sales, • Maintaining a clear sales pipeline showing enquiries, offers, next actions and progress, • Working closely with the founder on pricing, priorities and sales strategy Administration and organisation responsibilities: • Working with the founder to organise existing files, documents, photographs and correspondence, • Establishing clear digital filing and record-keeping systems, • Creating and maintaining a complete and accurate master inventory, • Recording descriptions, measurements, photographs, costs, selling prices and availability, • Organising invoices, shipping documents and other supporting information, • Helping coordinate photography, brochures, product listings and sales materials, • Managing appointments, correspondence and agreed follow-up actions, • Coordinating with suppliers, shipping companies and other service providers when required, • Ensuring that business and product information is current, accurate and easy to locate Essential experience and qualities: • Relevant experience in luxury interiors, interior design, furniture, art, galleries, auction houses, jewellery, watches, collectables or another high-value sales environment, • An established professional network of relevant contacts who can be lawfully approached, • Evidence of successfully developing client relationships and completing high-value sales, • Exceptional organisation, administrative ability and attention to detail, • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify the right buyer for a particular piece, • A proactive and entrepreneurial approach, with the confidence to create opportunities independently, • Persistence and discipline in following leads through to a conclusion, • Professional written, telephone and face-to-face communication, • Competence with spreadsheets, databases, online platforms and digital content, • The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the founder, • A genuine appreciation of design, quality and craftsmanship Remuneration: This is initially a part-time position offering a basic hourly payment for the agreed administrative, organisational and sales-development work, together with an attractive 10% commission on qualifying completed sales. Each item will have an agreed minimum selling price. Commission will be earned when a sale is completed at or above that authorised price and the customer’s cleared payment has been received. For example: • A completed £10,000 sale earns £1,000 commission, • A completed £20,000 sale earns £2,000 commission, • A completed £50,000 sale earns £5,000 commission This structure provides a basic payment for the work involved in organising and developing the business, together with substantial earning potential for someone who can use their experience, contacts and commercial ability to achieve results. This is an early-stage, founder-led business rather than a large company or conventional retail operation. It is an opportunity for a resourceful and well-connected individual to work directly with the founder, take meaningful responsibility and contribute directly to building a successful and distinctive business. When applying, candidates should briefly describe their relevant industry experience, the type of professional network they have developed and examples of high-value sales or client relationships they have personally managed.
