We are seeking a enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Manager to join our Warm Rosette Pub in Barnes! We’re a community-focused pub in Barnes, with a strong reputation for great food, drinks and service. Alongside our everyday pub trade, we host a wide range of events, from birthdays and private parties to weddings, celebrations and larger gatherings. We’re looking for someone who is confident leading a team, passionate about hospitality and understands what it takes to run a successful pub. Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll play an important role in the day to day running of The Crossing. You’ll be a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable managing a busy Friday night, overseeing a private celebration or making sure the cellar is running perfectly. You’ll help ensure that our guests receive consistently excellent service while supporting the team and maintaining the high standards we expect across the pub. Key responsibilities • Supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the pub, • Leading and motivating the team during busy services, • Maintaining consistently high standards of service, presentation and hospitality, • Taking responsibility for the pub in the absence of the General Manager, • Managing and maintaining the cellar, gas, • Managing stock levels, deliveries and stock rotation, • Supporting ordering and reducing waste and unnecessary stock loss, • Ensuring licensing, health & safety and company procedures are followed, • Training and developing team members, • Dealing confidently and professionally with guest feedback and complaints, • Helping maintain excellent relationships with regular customers and the local community Events are an important part of The Crossing, so experience in private hire and event management is highly desirable. This will include: • Liaising with guests and helping understand their event requirements, • Helping plan and organise events from enquiry through to completion, • Coordinating with the kitchen and front-of-house teams, • Ensuring event spaces are prepared and presented to a high standard, • Managing timings, menus, drinks packages and special requests, • Providing a warm, professional and personal service to hosts and their guests, • Helping generate repeat business and positive recommendations We’re looking for someone who: • Has previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a pub, bar, restaurant or similar hospitality environment, • Is confident and experienced with cellar management, • Has a genuine interest in beer, drinks and hospitality, • Has experience working with private events, functions or celebrations, • Is confident leading a team and taking responsibility, • Has excellent attention to detail and high standards, • Is calm and organised under pressure, • Has excellent communication and customer service skills, • Is commercially aware and understands the importance of sales, GP, stock control and reducing waste, • Is friendly, approachable and enjoys getting to know customers, • Is willing to be hands-on and lead by example, • Has a positive attitude and takes pride in the venue they work in What we offer • A key management position within a well-established Barnes pub, • Great shift patterns, this is not a late pub, • A friendly and supportive working environment, • The opportunity to take ownership and make a real impact, • Festive bonuses, • Staff benefits and discounts This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys pub life — someone who can confidently run a busy service, look after a cellar, lead a team and make sure a wedding, birthday or celebration is an event guests will remember. If you’re passionate about hospitality, take pride in high standards and want to be part of a busy, ambitious pub in the heart of Barnes, we’d love to hear from you.
