Senior Planner Galldris Group Location: Midlands Region, based out of Birmingham An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner to join our Midlands team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering Background with previous experience with RC works, drainage, and groundworks, working in high-profile, tier 1 & 2 environments with attention to health, safety, environment and quality. The Senior Planner will manage the Planning and Programming function in selected key bids in Tender, Preconstruction and concluding in Construction, liaising internally with the Galldris team, and externally with the Client, Consultants, and other Key Stakeholders to ultimately produce and manage well-considered, professional and accurate plans and programmes. Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to: • Proactively lead the planning function on selected projects, producing well-considered, professional and achievable methodologies and programmes for both Pre-Construction and Construction activities, • Collaboratively create, maintain, review and administer construction schedules and planning deliverables, including planning philosophy, presentations and reports, • Determine optimum construction methods and techniques, • Identifying temporary works and method-related plant, • Identifying planning scope, major constraints and contract requirements, • Identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme collaboratively with the team and supply chain, • Establish the critical path of the programme. What you’ll do: Set vision and strategy • Own and continually refine the AI initiatives portfolio and roadmap for the group., • Run a structured intake process for new ideas, assessing value, feasibility, data readiness, ethical risk, and compliance., • Run time-boxed PoCs (2–8 weeks) and MVPs (8–16 weeks) using Agile methods (Scrum or Kanban) with regular demos and retrospectives., • Build and lead cross-functional squads including Product Owner, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Integration Engineers, Solution Architect, and domain experts from Admissions, Registry and Student Services., • Design experiments, test hypotheses, and iterate quickly, ensuring human-in-the-loop for critical decisions such as admissions triage or student risk flagging., • Take validated MVPs into production with robust architecture, integration patterns, security controls, SLAs, and operational runbooks., • Establish MLOps across the university environment, including model registry, CI/CD for ML, feature stores, monitoring for drift, and retraining policies., • Build reusable AI platform capabilities (e.g., orchestration, RAG services, prompt safety, connectors) that support multiple domains such as:, • Recruitment & Admissions: enquiry triage, lead scoring, document extraction, and decision support., • Student Records & Registry: data quality checks, anomaly detection, and predictive alerts for progression and retention., • Timetabling & Operations: demand forecasting, optimization support, and conflict detection., • Teaching & Learning: content summarization, tutoring assistants, accessibility tools, and feedback synthesis respecting academic integrity., • Student Support & Wellbeing: intelligent case routing, early warning signals, and proactive nudges designed with strong ethics and safeguarding., • Research Administration: grant discovery, compliance support, and metadata enrichment., • Implement a practical AI governance framework that includes a use case register, risk scoring, impact assessments, model documentation, and audit trails., • Ensure compliance with GDPR, accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), information security policies, and emerging AI regulations., • Partner with Deans, Registry, Admissions, Student Services, IT, Legal and other stakeholders to align on priorities and rollout plans., • Communicate progress through clear dashboards and storytelling, highlighting wins and lessons learned to build momentum., • Lead RFPs and SOWs for AI vendors, data providers, and implementation partners, including evaluation of cost, performance, and scalability., • Track and optimize cloud and AI platform spend, balancing cost with value; negotiate campus-wide licensing where beneficial. What you bring: Education • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related discipline. Experience Essential • 6+ years in IT delivery, product, or program leadership roles, including at least 3 years leading AI/ML or advanced analytics initiatives end-to-end., • Proven track record running Agile PoCs and MVPs and scaling them into production within complex organizations., • Strong understanding of AI/ML techniques (e.g., classification, NLP, GenAI, RAG, prompt engineering), data pipelines, APIs, and microservices., • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also valued) and MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow, Azure ML, Databricks, SageMaker or Vertex) plus observability practices., • Familiarity with higher education processes and integrations across SIS, LMS, CRM, and ERP environments., • Knowledge of data privacy, accessibility, security, and Responsible AI in academic or similarly regulated contexts., • Experience designing or operating an AI platform or shared AI services used across multiple domains or business units., • Hands-on work with vector databases and retrieval pipelines (e.g., Azure AI Search, Pinecone) and guardrails for GenAI., • Background in enterprise architecture and integration patterns (event-driven, REST, GraphQL)., • Relevant certifications such as Agile/Scrum (PSM/CSM), Azure AI Engineer/DP-100, PMI-ACP/SAFe, or security/privacy certifications. About the role Working with both internal and external resource, the Development Lead will help define and implement best-practices as well as ensuring adherence to group target-states and policies (e.g. architecture, security, observability, privacy, data-handling, etc). Key responsibilities include: • Oversee the development effort on the product suite, whether delivered internally or externally via a third-party development partner, seeking:, • Adherence to best practice and group policies, • Strong evidence-backed security posture, • Ensuring the Development team is working effectively and delivering value consistently, aligned to the Product roadmap, • Helping to facilitate (and run, where necessary) agile ceremonies, ensuring concerns, barriers, blockers and other items are appropriately raised, escalated and resolved with support of the Product team, • Line-management of development team where required including, but not limited to coaching/mentoring, 1:1 meetings, appraisals and personal development plans, identifying training needs, motivating and managing performance, identifying skill gaps and plans to mitigate them and succession planning, • Working with internal and external talent acquisition stakeholders to assess, interview and select candidates to hire, • Writing job specifications aligned to business and team needs, • Articulate technical debt to Product, highlighting critical timescales (e.g., deprecation dates, supplier switch-offs, etc), • Contribute regularly to conversations around process and systems, to help ensure maximum efficiency across the company, • Supporting the compliance teams with the scoping of penetration tests and the analysis of the findings, to be fed into the product roadmap (aligned to the group remediation schedule), • Supporting the Compliance team with information security assessments, coordinating with the development team and other technical stakeholders to provide guidance on answers We are looking for: • In-depth knowledge of Salesforce Apex, including bulkification, governor limits and async processing, • Strong expertise in Lightning Web Components (LWC) and modern Salesforce UI architecture, • High competency in Salesforce data modelling, security, sharing rules and large data volume handling, • Strong experience with Salesforce integration patterns including REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, and Change Data Capture, • Proficiency with Salesforce DevOps processes including CI/CD, source-driven development and release management, • Proven ability to lead complex Salesforce development initiatives and mentor mid-to-senior engineers, • Understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous integration patterns, • Working knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, ECS Fargate, SQS, and DynamoDB is beneficial, • Familiarity with off-platform development in languages such as Java or Go is advantageous, • High level of understanding of architectural patterns and distributed system design principles, • Strong experience working with APIs (both REST and SOAP), • High level of understanding of technical security and secure development methodologies within the Salesforce ecosystem, • Experience working in Agile, multi-team delivery environments, • Experience working with Salesforce Automotive Cloud is beneficial but not essential In addition to a competitive salary, our benefits package is second to none.
