Deputy Nursery Manager\n\nLocation: On-site Nursery (Further Education Setting)\nSalary: Competitive (dependent on experience)\nContract: Full-time (35 hours), Term Time Only - Fixed Term (1 Year)\nReporting to: Nursery Manager\n\nThe Role\n\nOur client is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to support the day-to-day running of their on-site nursery provision.\n\nThis is a key leadership role within a well-established early years setting, providing high-quality childcare for children of students and staff. The Deputy Nursery Manager will work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the delivery of outstanding care, education, and safeguarding practices, and will take full responsibility for the nursery in their absence.\n\nThe successful candidate will also take on the role of Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), ensuring children with additional needs receive appropriate support and inclusive learning opportunities.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLeadership & Management\n\n * Support the Nursery Manager in the daily operation and administration of the nursery\n\n * Lead and motivate the nursery team to deliver high-quality childcare and education\n\n * Supervise staff, contributing to appraisals, supervision, and professional development\n\n * Lead room meetings and contribute to staff training and development\n\n * Act as Deputy in the absence of the Nursery Manager\n\nQuality & Curriculum\n\n * Support the delivery of an inclusive, engaging curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)\n\n * Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, learning, and care\n\n * Contribute to action planning, audits, and continuous improvement processes\n\n * Ensure all practices are inclusive and tailored to meet individual children’s needs\n\nSafeguarding & Compliance\n\nTake a lead role in safeguarding and child protection, responding to concerns in line with policies and procedures\n\nEnsure compliance with all relevant legislation and frameworks, including EYFS, safeguarding guidance, and health and safety regulations\n\nMaintain accurate records and documentation in line with GDPR and data protection requirements\n\nSupport preparation for inspections and ensure regulatory standards are consistently met\n\nOperational Responsibilities\n\nSupport occupancy management, including allocation of nursery places and monitoring attendance\n\nAssist with funding claims and administrative processes\n\nManage resources and ensure adequate supplies are maintained\n\nSupport financial processes such as petty cash and purchasing where required\n\nPartnership Working\n\nBuild positive relationships with parents, carers, staff, and external professionals\n\nSupport children with SEND through effective SENCo practice\n\nWork collaboratively with wider teams to support the needs of children and families\n\nCandidate Profile\n\nEssential requirements:\n\n * Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare/Education (or equivalent)\n\n * Minimum of 3 years’ experience within an Early Years setting\n\n * Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework, child development, and safeguarding practices\n\nKey skills and attributes:\n\n * Experience supporting or leading a team within a nursery environment\n\n * Strong organisational and time management skills\n\n * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills\n\n * Ability to work independently and use initiative\n\n * Commitment to inclusive practice and supporting children with SEND\n\n * A positive, proactive, and professional approach\n\nDesirable:\n\n * Additional professional qualifications\n\n * Experience contributing to quality assurance, audits, or inspections\n\n * Experience using digital systems within an early years setting\n\nAbout the Organisation\n\nOur client operates a high-quality nursery provision within an education setting, offering childcare for children of students and staff.
