The Role • Will be working day shift system., • The role will support the implementation of new products as they continue their year by year expanding growth., • You will report directly to the General Manager and will be actively involved in the rolling out the strategic direction and growth aspects of the business., • Set targets in line with the departmental objectives for the creation and management of all product process SOP’s, ensuring control and adherence within the manufacturing environment., • Promote a culture which ensures discipline of standards and expectations and these are followed and met at all times., • Roll out training programmes for all new processes introduced., • Ensure all manufacturing activities are covered by SOPs., • Ensure manufacturing performance indicators are measured and monitored., • Prioritise and develop projects based on critical needs., • Recommend, innovate and implement revised methods and processes to ensure labour costs are in line with the business objectives., • Excellent communication with other stakeholders within the business to support the introduction., • Support with Supply Chain to work with existing or new suppliers in any new product introduction., • Assures product and process quality by designing test methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards and confirming manufacturing methods. The Person • Must experience in a similar role., • Logical problem solver with excellent fault-finding abilities., • Previous manufacturing experience is essential., • Educated to a minimum HNC level in an Engineering discipline., • Lean tools and techniques., • Project management., • Implementer/finisher., • Problem solving and conflict management., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE: This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Production Engineer to join an established, global leader in specialist industrial compressed air / pressure vessel systems. Based at our Gateshead facility, which serves a worldwide sales base, you will report to the General Manager within a highly professional team. You will be pivotal in driving manufacturing efficiency, developing production cells, and motivating the team to support our year-on-year strategic growth. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead process re-engineering and piece-part flow improvements to ensure efficiency and labour cost alignment., • Design test methods and manage all product SOPs, fostering a disciplined culture of standards and high-quality output., • Lead the manufacturing phase of New Product Introductions, validating jigs/fixtures and producing CapEx justifications., • Manage project resources and timelines while interrogating KPI data (OTDP, Not Right First Time) to drive continuous improvement., • Roll out training programmes for new methods and maintain a 100% safety-conscious environment through rigorous risk assessments. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: ESSENTIAL • Degree or HND/HNC in a relevant engineering field., • Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools., • Pro-active "completer-finisher" with a systematic approach and the ability to influence at all levels., • Full Driving Licence and strong computer literacy. DESIRABLE • Proven experience in industrial manufacturing., • TKnowledge of FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why, and SPC., • Experience developing a Production Engineering team.
