For our office in Stockton we are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer The candidate will be responsible to lead and participate in the development of the Electrical systems design for various projects across a range of industries, including nuclear, defence, process, pharmaceuticals etc. The role will involve the production and checking of engineering deliverables to support design development across the full design lifecycle, including concept, basic, and detail design phases, and to provide support to procurement activities, construction, and testing and commissioning. Furthermore, participation in development of bid and tender information including engineering workhour and merchant account estimates, programs and schedules is required. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to all aspects of electrical engineering. The role requires knowledge and experience in project delivery with experience of optioneering, front-end design and detail design, procurement, and supporting construction, testing and commissioning. Specific responsibilities are: • Lead and take responsibility for the delivery of the design aspects of the project., • Contribute to the production of multi discipline design documentation such as, but not limited to: Project Requirement Documents, Basis of Design, Project Verification Plans, Quality Plans, Design Justification Report., • Determine project requirements independently, • Review / checking of design documents and electrical deliverables developed by design teams., • Ability to estimate hours for scope changes or additional works along with outlining supporting schedule for the discipline., • Support and contribute to the delivery of Design Reviews. Actively participate in the technical development of electrical engineering team members including apprentices, graduates, and junior engineers. Actively contribute to the procedural and technical working of the department with the production of department procedures, work instructions, design guides, and templates. Requirements • Management of design delivery teams, • Good working knowledge of Wiring Regulations (BS7671) as applied to industrial installations, • Working knowledge of Machinery Safety, UKCA Marking, • Good working knowledge of switchgear standards BS EN 62271 (parts applicable to voltages from 1kV to 52kV), BS EN 60947, • Knowledge of BS EN 60909 for the production of fault level studies. Also experience in the production of load flow and motor starting studies. Use of SKM Powertools or ETAP software., • Machinery Safety and UKCA Marking., • Design and specification of lightning protection systems including preparation of risk assessments per BS EN IEC 62305, • Design and specification of earthing systems according to applicable standards, • Determination of touch and step potentials during fault and lightning strike conditions, • Knowledge and experience of determination and specification of suitable surge protection equipment in accordance with applicable standards and wiring regulations, • Understanding and application of the required deliverables and design process and output for all for electrical engineering information including installation details, • Experience of delivery within and in accordance with formal Business Management systems, • Estimate & schedule production and progress reporting Amentum is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK. This is a key role within our project and engineering portfolio which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project engineering management professionals within the team and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project engineering management and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects. Since 1983 Hartlepool has generated over 258 TWh of zero carbon electricity which is enough to power every home in the Tees Valley for 204 years avoiding 90m tonnes of CO2 emissions, or Like taking 43m cars off UK roads for a year. You will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station. Key responsibilities will be: • Producing and maintaining engineering documentation including quality plans and technical specifications, • Management of technical queries in accordance with relevant processes and procedures, • Supporting the process of contractor selection and contract placement, • Technical reviews of contractor documents and drawings, • Carrying out technical appraisals of project options, • Performing feasibility studies, site surveys and liaison with designers and station engineering staff as required, • Prepare Engineering Changes and manage the preparation of supporting and affected documents, • Commissioning documents and act as test team leader where appropriate, • Typically Chartered Engineer or HNC, • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification, • Candidates that hold a formal project management qualification and are versed in modern project management techniques preferred but not essential, • Experience of Identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements., • Knowledge and experience of delivering construction projects under CDM, • Strong communication and organisational skills Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity.
