REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - PART TIME Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE Pro-Rata Bonus: Eligible (details shared at offer stage) Hours: Part Time, 16 hours per week / Contract: We’re flexible on how the role is structured and are open to both part-time employment and freelance arrangements. THE ROLE We’re looking for a skilled Repairs & Maintenance Technician who is ideally (but not a deal breaker!) qualified in both electrical and plumbing work. You’ll support both MAKE IT Bow and MAKE IT Barking, attending whichever site requires maintenance that week. This is a varied, practical and hands-on role. You’ll carry out repairs, handle electrical and plumbing tasks within your qualification level, complete preventative maintenance, and support Studio & Community Managers with day-to-day operational needs. You will work under the Head of Operations, with daily coordination from Studio & Community Managers for task lists, site priorities and access. This is a part-time position (2 days per week), ideal for someone who enjoys flexible, rewarding work in creative community spaces. WHAT YOU’LL DO Repairs & Maintenance • Carry out electrical repairs, lighting fixes and small installations, • Handle plumbing tasks such as leaks, blockages and fixtures, • Complete general repairs, joinery and small building works, • Deliver painting and decorating tasks to maintain presentation Preventative & Safety Checks • Complete weekly building condition checks, • Identify issues early and report risks promptly, • Support basic safety checks under HoO direction Operational Support • Work closely with Studio & Community Managers on daily tasks, • Assist with hire space setup and breakdown when needed, • Fix equipment, furniture and fittings, • Maintain tools, materials and stock Cross-Site Work • Work across both MAKE IT Bow and MAKE IT Barking, • Prioritise tasks based on site requirements, • Keep both buildings safe, functional and looking their best WHAT YOU'LL BRING Experience & Skills • ElectricaL (Ideally Level 2/3 or equivalent), • Plumbing (Ideally NVQ Level 2 or equivalent), • Strong general maintenance, painting and DIY skills, • Experience in multi-trade roles, facilities or property maintenance, • Ability to diagnose and solve problems independently Behaviours • Reliable, organised and self-motivated, • Friendly, approachable and respectful, • Calm under pressure with a solutions-first mindset, • Takes pride in craftsmanship and detail, • Strong communication skills, • Positive, flexible and team-oriented REPORTING LINES Reports to: • Head of Operations Works closely with: • Studio & Community Managers - daily coordination & task priorities, • External contractors - when specialist work is required WHAT YOU’LL USE • Basic reporting via Google Workspace, • Tools, equipment and materials relevant to repairs & maintenance, • Internal communication tools for daily coordination PERKS & BENEFITS Annual Bonus Scheme • A performance-linked annual bonus recognising great work and contribution to the business., • 33 Days Holiday inclusive of Bank Holidays Pro-Rata, • Plus one additional day for every year of service., • Two Team Days a Year, • A full-team Summer Day and Winter Day where we close shop, step out together and reset as a group.
