Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Duration: 2 Month Contract Start Date: ASAP Location: Fully onsite in Camberley, Surrey Rate: Hourly rate open to discussion Mechanical Design Engineer Overview We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering company with extensive experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and support of aero engine test facilities worldwide. Operating across the aerospace and energy sectors, the business delivers turnkey engineering solutions, including mechanical systems, data acquisition systems, facility upgrades, and lifecycle support. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a range of complex projects on a contract basis. The role will involve designing bespoke mechanical systems and producing detailed 3D models and engineering documentation while working closely with project teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions. The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve: • Creating detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, • Developing bespoke mechanical and industrial equipment designs, • Producing technical documentation, assembly drawings, and bills of materials, • Supporting projects throughout the design and development process, • Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams, • Reviewing technical requirements and ensuring designs are fit for purpose, • Assisting with design improvements and engineering change activities, • Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards and best practices The Mechanical Design Engineer will need to have the following attributes: • Proven experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role within an engineering or manufacturing environment, • Proficiency with 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor (SolidWorks experience will also be considered), • Experience producing detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials, • Good understanding of GD&T and the production of drawings in accordance with BS 8888 standards, • Knowledge of the full design lifecycle, from concept development through to manufacture and implementation, • Experience working within quality-controlled environments, ideally ISO 9001 accredited businesses, • Familiarity with electro-mechanical control systems, including electrical/electronic symbols and wiring diagrams, • Familiarity with structural design principles, including steelwork and civil construction fundamentals, • Familiarity with the design of mechanical systems, including fuel, compressed air, water cooling, and hydraulic systems, • Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements, • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team, • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications Additional Notes: Please note that this role may require UK Security Clearance.
