This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business with a strong order book, varied work, and genuine long-term opportunity.\n\nThis Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembler role will focus on the mechanical assembly and build of bespoke machinery, working from initial build through to completion. You’ll be involved in proper hands-on fitting work, including sub-assembly, full machinery build, component installation, mechanical adjustment, alignment, and final build work.\n\nThe role\n\nAs a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembler, you’ll be involved in the mechanical build and assembly of bespoke production and process machinery.\n\nThe work will include:\n\n Building and assembling bespoke machinery and production equipment from engineering drawings\n\n Carrying out mechanical fitting, hand fitting, assembly, alignment, and adjustment work\n\n Building sub-assemblies through to complete machinery assemblies\n\n Installing and fitting mechanical components including shafts, gears, sprockets, bearings, gearboxes, and drive systems\n\n Setting clearances, checking alignment, and making mechanical adjustments to ensure correct operation\n\n Using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment including Verniers, height gauges, and similar inspection tools\n\n Modifying or adjusting components where required to achieve the correct fit and finish\n\n Working to high standards of accuracy, workmanship, and mechanical build quality\n\n Supporting machinery refurbishment, rebuild, and modification projects when required\n\nThis is the type of role that would suit someone who enjoys seeing machinery come together from individual parts and assemblies, rather than carrying out repetitive production or maintenance-based work.\n\nWhat we’re looking for\n\nWe’re interested in speaking with candidates who have experience in mechanical fitting, machinery assembly, machine building, bench fitting, or mechanical build work.\n\nYou’ll need:\n\n Experience building, fitting, assembling, or installing machinery, production equipment, or mechanical systems\n\n Ability to read and understand engineering drawings\n\n Experience working with shafts, bearings, gearboxes, drive systems, or mechanical components/assemblies\n\n Confident use of hand tools and power tools\n\n Experience using precision measuring equipment\n\n A good eye for detail and pride in quality workmanship\n\n The ability to work as part of a hands-on machinery build team\n\nExperience with bespoke machinery, process machinery, production machinery, conveyors, automated equipment, special purpose machinery, or heavy mechanical systems would be highly relevant.\n\nSuitable backgrounds\n\nThis Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembler position may suit candidates who have previously worked as a:\n\nMechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembler, Machine Builder, Bench Fitter, Assembly Fitter, Mechanical Build Engineer, Machinery Fitter, Fitter Assembler, Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineer, Production Machinery Fitter, Special Purpose Machinery Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Technician, or Mechanical Installation Engineer.\n\nLocation\n\nThe role is based in South Leeds, West Yorkshire, and may be suitable for candidates living in or around:\n\nLeeds, Holbeck, Morley, Beeston, Hunslet, Pudsey, Bradford, Wakefield, Sheffield, Dewsbury, Batley, Castleford, Garforth, Horsforth, Rothwell, Ossett, West Yorkshire, and surrounding areas.\n\nWhat’s on offer\n\n Typical annual earnings of £45,000 - £60,000\n\n Attractive base salary + overtime + allowances\n\n Paid overtime available\n\n 4-day working week\n\n Monday to Thursday\n\n 37-hour working week\n\n Regular 3-day weekend before overtime\n\n Permanent position\n\n Multiple vacancies available\n\n Bespoke machinery build environment\n\n Varied, hands-on mechanical fitting work\n\n Opportunity to work on equipment from initial build through to completion\n\n * Well-established machinery manufacturer\n\nApply now\n\nIf you’re a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembler looking for a permanent role with a 4-day week, strong earning potential, and varied bespoke machinery build work, please apply today.\n\nSimWest Engineering Recruitment is acting as the exclusive recruitment partner for Meltog Ltd on this vacancy
