Unfortunately we do not offer sponsorship Community Support Worker Job Description Position: Community Support Worker Responsible to: Staff liaison Manager Purpose of Position To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. Care provided by Community Support Workers is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the service user’s own family and will not include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse. Only when trained to do so would Community Support Workers undertake any specialist tasks. Principal Responsibilities 1. To assist service users with all personal care needs including medication, undressing, washing, bathing, oral hygiene and toileting needs. 2. To assist service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence and help in use and care of aids and personal equipment. 3. To support and care for service users who require palliative care. 4. To engage in the promotion of mental and physical well-being of service users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as meal preparation, reading, hobbies and recreations. 5. To make and change beds and all domestic tasks within the household, including laundry. 6. To read all care plans documents, including support plans, risk assessments and all other relevant documentation, record the support provided and report any concerns to the Regional Manager. 7. To support and assist service users in identifying risks and reporting to the Managers/office so that appropriate risk assessments and support plans can be put in place to minimise the risk. 8. Identify and support appropriately service users with capacity and those who lack capacity. 9. Involve and consult with service users, where appropriate their families, representatives or advocates to ensure that the service user’s views are expressed and acted upon. 10. To perform such other duties when supporting service users as may reasonably be required. 11. To enable and assist service users to maintain as much autonomy and independence as possible while delivering person-centred care. 12. To comply with Caring Partnership Ltd’s policies and procedures at all times. 13. To comply with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements at all times. 14. All Community Support Workers are required to update and continually improve their practice by attending mandatory training and supervision, this includes induction training, refresher training, identifying additional learning opportunities, individual supervision sessions, spot checks, personal development plans, team meetings and other meetings as required as requested by the Regional Manager. There is also the opportunity to progress to NVQ level 2 or 3 or their equivalent. 15. Promote good practice and be vigilant in recognising and reporting practice which does not meet the defined standard. 16. To assist and contribute to any regulatory body inspection or monitoring visit. 17. Any other reasonable request in keeping with the responsibilities of this role.
