Personal Injury Litigator is required by a dynamic, fast paced and well established, multi-service Law firm in Blackburn, Lancashire. The successful Personal Injury Litigator will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Litigator. You will have strong interpersonal skills & case management system experience along with having the ability to manage your own workload effectively. Offering a fantastic salary of up to £45,000, this role is perfect for qualified or non-qualified Clinical Negligence Lawyers with at least 3 years' of experience. This role will see you responsible for : Handling your own varied caseload of both pre-litigated and litigated Clinical Negligence files, including both fast and multi-track matters Deal with cases independently and without supervision from start to finish Support junior staff members to ensure that they are given the best possibilities for success Work to targets set by the firm and ensure that these are met or exceeded at all times Conduct relevant investigations in order to repudiate and/or conclude the claim. MAIN DUTIES To maintain a basic caseload of around 180 Housing Disrepair Pre Lit/Litigated cases. This will include complying with the Housing Disrepair pre action protocol, assessing liability, drafting court documentation, issuing court proceedings via Part 7 CPR, complying with court directions, document and letter creating in addition to the use of the telephone/email, review of RICs report, review of medical records, collation of special damages, collage of medical evidence, submission of full details, negotiations and settlements. To comply at all time with the case management system and be responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of its information. To comply with all key dates including court directions, limitation and hearing dates. To be responsible for the pro-active maintenance of their own task pad. Identify any complications within their caseload and immediately refer to their team leader. To assess liability and make an initial assessment of special damages. Contact clients by telephone and maintain regular and pro-active telephone contact with clients as required by our SLA’s. To demonstrate an ability to work to deadlines and be self-sufficient. Be able to achieve financial and administrative targets on a monthly basis as set by their team leader. Demonstrate a flexible approach to work, including hours of working. To demonstrate a commercial awareness and a pro-active approach to all aspects of work. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team, while maintaining responsibility for their own caseload. To comply with Lexcel and/or client service standards, client care and protocols. To demonstrate IT literacy by utilising a full range of internal and external systems inclusive of MS Outlook, MS Word and Pro Claim. We are in need of a pre-litigation fee earner in our Preston Office A high-volume caseload of Fast Track Personal Injury RTA Portal claims following the MOJ process. • Key Tasks: • Progressing your caseload in a manner to ensure that clients receive appropriate, professional, timely and pertinent legal advice, with regular contact, whilst managing their expectations. • To identify early those cases where proceedings would be tactically beneficial to litigate and to do so expeditiously. • Identify cases that have an element of serious injury and escalate the cases and remove form the Portal. The ideal candidate will have experience in caring for young people or adults with disabilities. The role is best suited to someone who is energetic, has a good sense of humour, and a professional and responsible work ethic. The candidate must have an interest in assisting the client to develop their life skills and therapy goals, whilst promoting their independence, within the home and community. It is important that the candidate is willing to participate in activities that the client enjoys, and has a clean driving license. The Client The client is an outgoing 19 year old Male, who is a wheelchair user, and communicates using an eye gaze. The Client lives with his family in Saxmundham. He is dependent on his support workers to promote his safety and assist with the activities of daily living. Social and recreational pursuits are an important element of the client's care, as he enjoys socialising with friends, going to concerts and attending social clubs. The Role The role of the candidate will be, both to provide direct two-to-one care for the client in the home and community, and 1:1 care at night as an oncall sleep in shift. The successful candidate will be friendly, professional and a team player, with a passion to provide high quality care. Direct Care The candidate will work alongside another support worker to deliver the following care to the client: personal care, medication administration, and meeting manual handling needs. There must be a commitment to build an appropriate friendship and rapport with the client, promote privacy and dignity and provide a high standard of therapeutic support in line with the relevant care plan’s and guidance. The candidate must have a clean driving licence, and be willing to drive the client’s vehicle to attend concerts, and other recreational activities with the client. Full training, support and guidance will be provided from the Case manager who will oversee the Care Team. Essential Must have experience working with young people/ adults with additional health and physical needs. Must be reliable, punctual, professional and friendly.
