Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) An exciting opportunity for a qualified domestic abuse specialist to join a safeguarding hub supporting victims of domestic abuse. This role focuses on multi-agency working, safeguarding, risk assessment and advocacy to ensure survivors receive timely, trauma-informed support. Working within a multi-agency safeguarding hub, the Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will collaborate with safeguarding partners to identify risk, share information and ensure victims and families receive the appropriate support and interventions. As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) you will assess referrals, contribute to safeguarding decisions, support risk management processes and help coordinate trauma-informed responses that prioritise the safety and wellbeing of victims and their children. DUTIES7 Your duties as the Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) include: • Case Assessment: Receive and assess domestic abuse referrals from police and partner agencies within the safeguarding hub, • Risk Identification: Analyse risk factors affecting victims and children, supporting safeguarding partners to determine appropriate intervention levels, • Information Sharing: Research case histories using internal systems and share relevant safeguarding information with multi-agency partners, • Referral Coordination: Work with referral teams and service leads to ensure cases are allocated to the correct domestic abuse support services, • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Participate in safeguarding discussions, strategy meetings and multi-agency decision making, • Support Pathways: Identify appropriate support services including domestic abuse advocacy, stalking support, sexual violence services and specialist interventions, • Data Management: Maintain accurate case records and contribute to reporting, monitoring and safeguarding documentation, • Professional Representation: Represent the organisation at safeguarding meetings and contribute specialist knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics, • Safeguarding Escalation: Identify and escalate high-risk safeguarding concerns involving vulnerable adults or children CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL • Previous experience supporting victims of domestic abuse or interpersonal violence in a professional setting, • A recognised IDVA qualification or direct experience in domestic abuse advocacy or safeguarding support, • Understanding of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims and their children, • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures relating to vulnerable adults and, • Experience working collaboratively with external partners such as police, social care or safeguarding teams, • Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and advocate for vulnerable individuals, • Experience managing complex cases involving trauma, mental health, safeguarding or crisis intervention, • Ability to use databases and systems alongside Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook, • Eligible to work in the UK, • Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (Part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies; the post holder must be female DESIRABLE • Training or qualification at Level 3 or above in a relevant subject such as health and social care, • Understanding of legislation relating to safeguarding, domestic abuse and victim protection, • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and motivational interviewing techniques, • Experience preparing written reports or presenting information within safeguarding or strategy meetings BENEFITS • Mileage allowance, • Training and development opportunities, • Employee Assistance Programme, • Access to clinical supervision with a qualified counsellor, • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, • Wellbeing day, • Pension scheme with employer contribution, • Time off in lieu for agreed additional hours This role requires an enhanced DBS check APPLY TODAY… By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.
