Teaching Assistant – SEND (Autism Specialist Unit) Location: Shepherd’s Bush, West London Contract: Full-time (Temp to Perm Opportunity) Start Date: September 2026 Are you an experienced and committed Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? We are working in partnership with a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Shepherd’s Bush that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with complex ASC needs on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school that is investing significantly in its SEND provision, including the launch of a brand-new specialist unit in September. The Role • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex ASC needs, • Support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning, • Implement structured routines and behaviour support strategies, • Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and safety, • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals, • Inclusive and supportive mainstream primary setting, • Significant investment in SEND provision, including a new specialist unit opening September 2026, • Strong leadership team with a clear vision for SEND, • Access to specialist training (e.g. autism approaches, behaviour support, therapy-led strategies) Essential: • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly ASC, • Understanding of behaviour, communication, and sensory needs, • Calm, patient, and resilient approach, • Willingness to support personal care needs, • Strong teamwork and communication skills, • Experience in a specialist provision or ASC unit, • Knowledge of approaches such as visual supports, structured teaching, or intensive interaction, • Full-time role with an immediate start, • Opportunity to transition to a permanent contract after a successful trial period, • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities, • Supportive and collaborative working environment The school operates a trial-based recruitment process, and successful candidates will be invited to attend a paid trial day to demonstrate their suitability for the role.
