Key Responsibilities • To have a full understanding of and be fully compliant with the digital Tachograph operation and drivers’ hours’ legislation., • Maintain an understanding of, and full compliance with the Working Time Directive for mobile workers. Observing all statutory break periods defined under the WTD for mobile workers, setting the tachograph to record all breaks. Driver’s hours rules must also be observed and take priority over WTD rules., • Ensure all loading and unloading activity is carried out in a safe and efficient manner. All loads are to be positioned and secured safely and correctly to avoid overloading any of the axles and to avoid any possibility of the load moving during transit. This could include manual handling of hoses., • Be aware of the dates for the scheduled 6-weekly safety inspection timetable and liaise with the Manager, and garage to help organise booking the vehicle in to have these inspections carried out., • Carry out daily maintenance and defect checks of the vehicle in accordance with the Daily Vehicle Defect Check Report and report any defects promptly to the Manager. Continually monitor the vehicle throughout the day for any signs of defects developing, e.g any warning lights illuminating on the dash etc. Qualifications & Experience • Full LGV driving licence (no more than 6 points), • HIAB/ALMI certificate is required for this role, • Demonstratable experience in similar industry, • Over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)Carry out work in compliance with Department of Transport Regulations and The Highway Code, having regard for personal safety, the safety of the workforce and the general public. About the Role To support the operations of our busy London branch, Selwood Pump Rental Solutions are pleased to be adding the position of Yard Supervisor to our friendly team, based our at our branch site in London (Dartford). This role will provide vital support to the branch operations and will be yard based supervising and assisting with various duties in conjunction with the loading and unloading of lorries to ensure timely delivery of our pumps and associated equipment in time to meet our customers expectations. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: • To continually look for ways to improve Health & Safety and ways to make processes more efficient by reporting any hazards, near misses, incidents and accidents promptly and according to company reporting procedures., • To ensure the yards and workshops are in a clean, tidy and organised state at all times., • To assist with loading and unloading of vehicles, checking items against paperwork to ensure accuracy of deliveries and collections., • Carrying out Post Hires for equipment., • To organise hose and accessory item storage, to include keeping a check on levels available and to maintain communication with regards to the scrap stock that needs to be disposed of., • To assist all other members of the depot when required with tasks, i.e. lifting, moving, in depot or on-site., • To help clean hire equipment prior to entry to workshop., • To be able to communicate accurately to your supervisor, work colleagues and customers re job specifications when required e.g. ETA’s and missing and damaged items., • Ensure direct reports are trained and competent to complete their role and identify and highlight any gaps in knowledge to the Branch Manager/Operations Manager., • Daily checks of the yard to ensure it is a safe working environment and identifying potential hazards and risks and removing and reporting, as required., • Relay key information about movements on site (including toolbox talks) to the yard team and ensure it is being embedded into the ways of working., • Helping prepare, ancillaries and accessories for all jobs going out on hire., • To carry out small deliveries and collections to or from customer’s sites, suppliers or inter branch., • Flexibility to support the team by working overtime as and when required by the business, this can include evenings and weekends., • To participate in the on-call rota, if required by the branch to meet business deliverables.
