The role: Technical Experience Specification: (essential) • You are an experienced, confident and able veterinary surgeon who is used to managing cases from first consultation through full diagnostic work., • Proven experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of outcomes, including hospitalising patients and monitoring them during hospitalisation., • Experience in a range of procedures including:, • Gastrotomy, enterotomy(ectomy), splenectomy, liver biopsy, lymph node biopsy, cystotomy., • Head and neck procedures: Pinnectomy, grid keratotomy, enucleation and eyelid surgery., • Tumour staging and removal without advanced wound closure techniques., • Limb, digit and tail amputation., • Dental expertise: the ability to take and interpret dental X-rays, perform surgical and closed extractions., • Competent in use of ultrasound: A-FAST, T-FAST, EPIC Scan, examination of liver, spleen, kidneys and bladder., • Able to diagnose cruciate disease and elbow dysplasia and hip dysplasia on clinical exam and follow up radiography. It is essential that you are commercially driven and motivated by our ambitious plans., • No criminal record Skills of specific interest to us: We are particularly keen to develop our practice in the following areas, and (whilst not essential) we would welcome experience in the following areas: Laparoscopy Arthroscopy Intra-thoracic surgery Total hip replacement Intra-ocular surgery Preferred Practical Skills & Experience: (not essential) • Adrenal, pancreatic, GI and cardiac ultrasound, • Advanced ophthalmology examinations and surgical procedures, • Liver lobectomy, GI stapling, nephrectomy, adrenalectomy, colectomy, anal gland excision, perineal hernia repair, colposuspension, urethrotomy(ostomy)., • Advanced wound closure techniques, • Endoscopy: experience in airway and GI, • Other head and neck: TECA, BOAS, Thyroid, Salivary glands etc, • Echocardiography, • Joint injections, • Orthopaedic surgery: fracture repair & luxation procedures via bone plating, ex-fix, IM Pin TPLO, TTA, MPL techniques, • Official veterinarian status (strongly preferred) Personal qualities: You are capable of a wide variety of surgeries, but still enjoy all types of clinical work. Confident in diagnostics, medical case management and patient care, you have developed a strong reputation in your current clinic for reliability, expertise and good outcomes. • Passionate about delivering exceptional care to our patients., • Collaborative, you enjoy working with others in a supportive team environment. You listen to different perspectives and look to reach consensus and a way forward., • A problem solver: you discuss issues with others in a positive, constructive and empathetic way to find a solution., • A strong communicator, you understand the importance of keeping everyone updated and included in conversations., • The ability to multi-task, managing several demands simultaneously., • Flexible and adaptable (both in responding to last minute emergencies/ change of plans and understanding the pressure on others in such moments), • You think ahead to anticipate what the vets and patients need and organise the team to respond quickly and efficiently, • Kind & compassionate to pets, owners and colleagues alike, • Good humoured, you have a positive ‘can do’ outlook (and understand how important this is for the team culture) Hours & facilities: The role is mainly daytime working, but on occasion (eg: staff sickness, holidays or unavoidable emergencies) you may be required to cover out of hours patient care or emergencies. Work takes place in our purpose-built clinic on Chiswick High Road, Chiswick and in our purpose-built hospital on Wandsworth Bridge Road, Fulham. Wolfe Vets Facilities: • Two dedicated theatres with positive pressure ventilation, • Separate spacious dog and cat wards, • Three consult rooms, • A large central patient hub, • CT scanner, • Rigid endoscopy, bronchoscope, gastroscope, digital display, • Anaesthetic patient monitors including two capnographs, • Extensive surgical instrumentation including: AO kits, Hall drill, electrosurgery, • DR digital radiography, • Two ultrasound units (cart and portable) Benefits: • RCVS fees paid, • Cash contributions to routine medical care and treatments (e.g.: dental appointments, opticians etc), • Discounted pet food and veterinary services for own pets, • CPD funded (currently £3500 per annum and 5 paid days CPD each calendar year), • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, • Loyalty scheme: Additional annual leave after two years of employment (increasing by a day a year to a maximum of 30 days per annum), • Birthday off- If it falls on a weekday, • Cyclescheme, • Paid overtime & TOIL, • Vet bonus scheme
