You will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEN staff to help students remain regulated, focused, and positively involved in school life.\nThe role includes 1:1 support, small group interventions, and in‑class behaviour support across a range of subjects.\n \nKey Responsibilities\n\nProvide targeted support for students with SEMH and behavioural needs\nImplement behaviour strategies and de‑escalation techniques\nSupport students to access learning and manage emotions effectively\nBuild strong, consistent, and positive relationships with pupils\nAssist teaching staff in maintaining a calm, inclusive classroom environment\nSupport social skills, resilience, and emotional regulation\nSupervise pupils during transitions, break, or lunch where required\nWork collaboratively with pastoral and SEN teams \nThe Ideal Candidate Will:\n\nHold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or\nBe a graduate (psychology, education, criminology, youth work, or related disciplines desirable) from a UK University.\nHave experience working with young people with behavioural or SEMH needs (school, youth work, mentoring, care, or similar settings)\nDemonstrate strong behaviour management skills\nHave strong spoken and written English, essential for communication, modelling language, and supporting learning\nBe calm, resilient, and confident in challenging situations\nShow excellent communication and interpersonal skills\nBe proactive, adaptable, and committed to inclusive education \nThis Role Is Ideal For:\n\nBehaviour or SEN Teaching Assistants\nGraduates seeking hands-on secondary school experience\nAspiring teachers, educational psychologists, or youth professionals\nIndividuals passionate about values‑driven education and behaviour support \nPay & Benefits\n\n£95–£115 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications\nLong-term, stable placement\nFull-time role with potential for progression\nOngoing support from a dedicated Smile Education consultant\nExperience within a well‑established, values‑focused secondary school \nSafeguarding & Compliance\nSmile Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
