Senior Associate | Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity | London | Work alongside a UK leading Data Privacy Partner If you’re a senior data privacy lawyer, this is a standout opportunity to join a team at a pivotal stage of growth. A top 10 partner has recently joined the firm with a clear mandate to build out the data, privacy and cybersecurity practice, and they are looking for someone to work closely alongside them as the team develops. You will sit directly beside this partner, gaining exposure to high-quality work across data privacy, cybersecurity and digital regulation, while playing a visible role in shaping the direction of the practice. This is an opportunity to move beyond purely GDPR advisory work and build expertise in areas such as AI regulation, digital risk and data-driven commercial strategy. The Firm This is a highly regarded top 50 UK and Ireland law firm with a strong national platform, an established London office and a broad client base across both public and private sectors. The firm has particular strength across technology, financial services, life sciences, education, real estate and the public sector. This gives the data team access to a varied and high-quality workload, often sitting at the intersection of commercial, regulatory and societal change. The London office combines the infrastructure and client base of a large firm with the energy and visibility of a team that is at the earlier stages of an ambitious plan. With consistent and substantial growth year on year, the firm is looking to expand, with the data privacy practice being a key focus. The firm is also investing heavily in AI and legal technology, with data, privacy, cybersecurity and digital regulation sitting at the centre of that strategy. This creates a strong platform for lawyers interested in emerging areas such as AI regulation, online safety, cybersecurity and digital risk. The Role You will join the London-based Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity team, advising on a broad range of UK and EU data protection and privacy matters. You will work closely with the partner leading the team’s growth, across corporate, financial services, real estate and commercial matters. This will provide exposure not only to a broad and high-quality workload, but also to key clients and business development opportunities. At this stage of the team’s development, this offers a strong platform for a senior associate looking to play a visible role in its growth. The work will include GDPR compliance, DPIAs, transfer risk assessments, international data transfers, privacy frameworks, DSARs, automated decision-making requests and data-related commercial contracts. Alongside this, you will advise on more strategic and evolving areas such as AI, digital transformation, profiling, biometrics, online safety, age verification, the EU Data Act and wider digital regulatory frameworks. Cybersecurity and incident response will also form part of the role, including supporting clients in relation to cyberattacks and personal data breaches, as well as contributing to international compliance programmes across multiple jurisdictions. This is not a narrow support role. You will have the opportunity to lead on matters, develop client relationships, supervise junior lawyers and work closely with senior members of the team as the practice continues to grow.
