Support Worker for Young Person - SAXMUNDHAM, SUFFOLK 30 hours dayshift plus 1 night shift/week Shift pattern negotiable mix of weekdays and weekend £ 11.80- £13/hr An exciting opportunity is available for the role of Senior Support worker, caring for an 19 year old young man. The ideal candidate will have experience in caring for young people or adults with disabilities. The role is best suited to someone who is energetic, has a good sense of humour, and a professional and responsible work ethic. The candidate must have an interest in assisting the client to develop their life skills and therapy goals, whilst promoting their independence, within the home and community. It is important that the candidate is willing to participate in activities that the client enjoys, and has a clean driving license. The Client The client is an outgoing 19 year old Male, who is a wheelchair user, and communicates using an eye gaze. The Client lives with his family in Saxmundham. He is dependent on his support workers to promote his safety and assist with the activities of daily living. Social and recreational pursuits are an important element of the client's care, as he enjoys socialising with friends, going to concerts and attending social clubs. The Role The role of the candidate will be, both to provide direct two-to-one care for the client in the home and community, and 1:1 care at night as an oncall sleep in shift. The successful candidate will be friendly, professional and a team player, with a passion to provide high quality care. Direct Care The candidate will work alongside another support worker to deliver the following care to the client: personal care, medication administration, and meeting manual handling needs. There must be a commitment to build an appropriate friendship and rapport with the client, promote privacy and dignity and provide a high standard of therapeutic support in line with the relevant care plan’s and guidance. The candidate must have a clean driving licence, and be willing to drive the client’s vehicle to attend concerts, and other recreational activities with the client. Full training, support and guidance will be provided from the Case manager who will oversee the Care Team. Essential Must have experience working with young people/ adults with additional health and physical needs. Must be reliable, punctual, professional and friendly. Must have excellent communication skills, a caring approach, with good initiative and problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team Must be fluent in English - both written and verbal. Must have a Clean driving licence Must have a satisfactory DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK Desirable Working with young people/ adults who use an eye gaze for communication. Experience in the safe use of Manual handling equipment. Flexibility to occasionally adjust or increase hours in accordance with the client and family’s needs. Job Duties Onboarding: Carry out DBS/Screening processes when due, ensuring that the company is always compliant. Pro-actively seek to mitigate any potential delays in processing candidates / employee files, seek solutions and keep key stakeholders up to date on any delays in the process which may affect the provisional start date. Manage and conduct weekly new starter inductions. Policies and Guidelines: Ensure compliance with UK employment law, regulations, and company policies. Contribute to the formulation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with CACI values and ethos. You will actively promote corporate policies and cultivate a positive work atmosphere. Drafting routine correspondence and document templates (e.g. forms, letters, checklists, spreadsheets, emails etc) Employee Relations: Collate and analyse key data and present reports in a user-friendly and professional manner. Collate and produce administration packs for cases - investigations, disciplinary, grievances and employment tribunals. Organise meetings in relation to case management - e.g. booking rooms, ensuring that all attendees have the meeting details, sending out invitations, sending out administration packs. Advise on procedures and case process as required. Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on a variety of sensitive employee relations issues. Support the administration aspects of casework management and support at meetings as appropriate including note taking. Apprentices/MSD NextGen: Act as key contact and mentor, supporting the development, sharing learnings, and maintaining effective communication. Apprentices – Monthly check ins and facilitation. MSD NextGen - Coordinate employee training programs and maintain training records and budget requirements. Play a pivotal role in MSD’s NextGen Programme and Social Responsibility Committee, co-ordinating the early years training and development program to enhance employee growth. Work with all members of staff to maintain and develop the positive progressive culture within CACI. Any other duties or initiatives that come under the HR remit. Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources department by assisting on new initiatives and projects as required. To excel in this role, you should possess: Skills and Experience: CIPD Level 3 with previous experience working in a HR department. Working knowledge of Employment Law and generalist HR working practice, policies, and procedures. Professional communication and influencing skills both in written and spoken English. Strong IT skills with a good understanding of MS Excel & Word and HRIS experience. (Experience in Dayforce HR Software is desirable but not essential). Experience of dealing with day-to-day queries and having a customer focused attitude. Confidence in dealing with individuals at all levels within the business, including senior management. Efficient administrator who can demonstrate attention to detail. Be able to work under pressure and deliver a high-volume workload. Demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work.
