Job Title: Project Officer – Children's Services Location: Barnsley, S70 (Hybrid, Office Based 3 days per week) Salary: £18.35 per hour Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract Hours: Full-time About the Role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Officer to support the delivery of projects within Children's Services. This role focuses on improving practice, performance, quality, and service development to enhance the welfare and wellbeing of children and families. You will assist in managing projects from planning through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about service improvement and making a positive impact on children's lives. Key Responsibilities Support project management activities, coordinating resources to meet deadlines and budgets. Ensure projects follow formal programme and project management frameworks. Provide advice and guidance on project delivery, including stakeholder engagement. Maintain risk registers and assist in resolving issues. Support performance management and data analysis to drive continuous improvement. Help identify and implement new processes, technology, and systems to enhance service delivery. Prepare reports, presentations, and maintain project documentation. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration. Stay informed on local and national developments to adapt projects accordingly. About You Relevant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent). Project/Programme Management training or substantial experience in a project management environment. Experience supporting projects to successful completion. Knowledge of formal project management methodologies. Understanding of Children's Services and related challenges. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to research, analyse data, and produce clear reports. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Additional Requirements Flexible approach to work and willingness to travel as required. Commitment to continuous professional development. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
