HSEQ Lead – UKAt CTI, health, safety, environmental care, and quality standards are fundamental to how we operate. As HSEQ Lead, you will act as the company's guide, advisor, and escalation point for HSEQ across the UK, while supporting our continued growth into Europe. You will ensure we meet our legal and regulatory obligations, but just as importantly, help us build a culture where good HSEQ practice is understood and owned throughout the business. This is a practical, operational role. You will be expected to spend time in our branches, warehouses and active project sites, carrying out site walks, talking to our teams and seeing first-hand how work is being delivered. You will work closely with Branch and Regional Leadership to create the standards, reporting and assurance processes that give us clear visibility of risk and compliance across the operation. You will own the HSEQ framework, standards, reporting, assurance and escalation process. Operational leaders will remain accountable for implementing those standards within their own areas. Your role is to make sure they have the right processes, information and support, and to challenge where standards are not being met.As part of a U.S.-headquartered organisation, you will also work regularly with U.S.-based leadership and HSEQ colleagues. You should be comfortable explaining UK and European requirements, comparing these with U.S. and OSHA approaches where useful, and making clear where local legislation or working practices require a different approach.Key Responsibilities:Develop and Maintain HSEQ Policies - Create, review and update health, safety, environmental and quality policies that reflect CTI's operational goals and comply with applicable UK legislation and, as the business grows, relevant European requirements.Serve as HSEQ Escalation Point - Act as the primary point of contact for complex, high-risk or significant HSEQ matters, providing clear advice and direction to project managers, site supervisors, Branch Leadership and Regional Leadership.Ensure Legal Compliance - Maintain current knowledge of applicable UK legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act, CDM Regulations, Management Regulations, PUWER, LOLER and relevant environmental requirements, and translate these into practical controls for the business.Support European Expansion - Help establish an appropriate HSEQ framework as CTI expands into Europe. Maintain a high-level understanding of European HSEQ requirements, identify country-specific obligations and coordinate local competent or specialist advice where detailed jurisdictional knowledge is required.Conduct Site Walks and Operational Inspections - Maintain a regular and visible presence across CTI offices, warehouses and active project sites. Carry out structured and informal site walks to understand working practices, identify emerging risks, engage with employees and subcontractors, and verify that agreed HSEQ standards are being applied in practice.Partner with Branch and Regional Leadership - Work directly with operational leaders to establish clear local HSEQ ownership, create appropriate inspection and reporting processes, review performance and corrective actions, and ensure leaders have clear visibility of the risks and compliance position within their areas.Develop Operational Compliance Reporting - Create, develop and maintain consistent reporting for operational areas including tools and work equipment, company vehicles, PPE, ladders and access equipment, electrical equipment and testing, warehouse activities, fire and first aid arrangements, training and competency, contractor compliance and workplace safety. Ensure actions have clear owners and are tracked through to closure.Create HSEQ Management Information - Develop meaningful dashboards, scorecards and regular reporting covering incidents, near misses, inspections, audit findings, corrective actions, training gaps, equipment compliance, legislative change and emerging risk. Use the data to identify trends and give leadership a clear view of where intervention is required.Lead Incident Response and Investigation - Oversee the reporting and investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis, assessment of reporting requirements and the development of effective corrective and preventative actions.Support Risk Management and RAMS - Provide practical advice on risk assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work, helping project and operational teams ensure controls are proportionate, understood and effective before work starts.Contractor and Subcontractor Assurance - Support the assessment and monitoring of contractors and subcontractors, ensuring appropriate HSEQ standards, competence and documentation are in place and that agreed standards are maintained on site.Manage Training and Competency Requirements - Work with HR and operational leaders to identify role-specific HSEQ training and competency requirements. Provide subject matter input into training content and priorities, while ensuring routine booking, administration and record keeping are owned by the appropriate business functions.Coordinate Building Compliance - Maintain oversight of statutory building and workplace compliance activities such as fire systems, water safety, loading requirements and other required inspections, engaging qualified trades, specialists or contractors where appropriate.Maintain Safety and Compliance Records - Ensure accurate and auditable records are maintained for inspections, risk assessments, audits, training, incidents and corrective actions, with clear ownership and traceability.Support Customer Compliance and Accreditations - Provide HSEQ subject matter expertise for customer PQQs, supplier onboarding, Constructionline, CHAS, SSIP and similar requirements. Own the technical accuracy of HSEQ information while working with the appropriate business teams so routine document collation, data entry and submission activity does not sit solely within HSEQ.Work with U.S. Leadership and HSEQ Teams - Communicate UK and European HSEQ requirements clearly to U.S.-based stakeholders, helping compare local requirements with CTI U.S. standards and OSHA terminology. Support the adoption of common global standards where appropriate while ensuring local legal requirements take precedence.Promote a Safety-First Culture - Engage with teams at every level to make HSEQ part of day-to-day operational decision making. Encourage proactive reporting of hazards and near misses, share learning from incidents and inspections, and coach leaders and employees to understand their own responsibilities.Support Continuous Improvement - Use audits, inspections, site engagement, customer feedback and operational data to identify opportunities to improve safety performance, environmental responsibility, quality control and the consistency of project delivery.Key Skills & Qualifications:NEBOSH Qualification - You will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent recognised occupational health and safety qualification, as a minimum. A Level 6 health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma or equivalent, is strongly preferred, or you will be actively working towards one.Professional HSEQ Experience - You will have demonstrable experience operating in a practical HSEQ role and be comfortable acting independently as a source of competent advice to operational and senior leadership.UK Health and Safety Knowledge - You will have strong and current knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and be able to apply it in a practical, proportionate way across office, warehouse, construction and project site environments.European Exposure - Previous experience supporting European operations, international projects or different national HSEQ regimes is strongly desirable. Detailed legal expertise in every European country is not required, but you must understand when local professional advice is needed and be able to coordinate it effectively.OSHA Awareness - Previous exposure to OSHA standards, U.S. occupational safety terminology or HSEQ within an American-owned or multinational organisation would be advantageous. Detailed OSHA expertise is not required, but you should be able to understand the context of U.S. requirements and compare them appropriately with UK and European obligations.IOSH Membership - Active membership of IOSH is preferred. Certified membership, or a clear pathway towards Certified or Chartered membership, would be advantageous.Operational and Site Experience - You will be comfortable spending time on active sites, in warehouses and within branch operations, engaging directly with field employees, project teams and subcontractors rather than managing HSEQ only through systems and documentation.Reporting and Data Capability - You will have experience creating practical HSEQ reporting, dashboards or management information, and be able to turn inspection, compliance and incident data into clear priorities and actions for leadership.Incident Management and Investigation - You will be confident leading post-incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action planning, and communicating learning in a way that improves future performance.Audit and Inspection Capability - You will have experience planning, conducting and reporting on health, safety, environmental and quality audits and inspections, both internally and with third-party contractors.Policy and Procedure Development - You will have demonstrable experience creating clear, compliant and operationally relevant HSEQ policies, procedures, risk controls and safe systems of work.Building Compliance Coordination - You will understand statutory workplace and facilities compliance requirements and be comfortable coordinating external specialists or contractors where required.Management System Experience - Experience with ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 management systems would be advantageous.Communication and Engagement - You will be able to explain requirements clearly, influence behaviour, challenge constructively and communicate HSEQ risk and performance confidently to both UK and U.S.-based leadership.Personal Conduct & LeadershipOwnership of HSEQ - You will take responsibility for CTI's HSEQ framework, standards, assurance and reporting, while building clear operational ownership throughout the business rather than allowing HSEQ to become dependent on one individual.Visible and Practical - You will be willing to get out into the operation, walk sites, spend time with teams and understand what is happening in practice, not simply what a policy or spreadsheet says should be happening.Proactive Risk Management - You will actively identify and address risks before they escalate into incidents, using evidence, operational engagement and sound professional judgement to prioritise where attention is needed.Authoritative and Trusted - You will be a credible and trusted HSEQ voice, able to provide clear guidance, challenge poor practice and escalate significant concerns when required.Collaborative - You will work effectively with Branch and Regional Leadership, project managers, engineers, warehouse teams, field employees and U.S. colleagues to integrate HSEQ into normal day-to-day operations.Practical and Proportionate - You will understand that good HSEQ is about controlling real risk and improving how we work, not creating unnecessary administration. You will be able to balance legal compliance, operational reality and the standards CTI expects of itself.Commitment to Standards - You will help ensure that CTI employees and third-party contractors operate to consistently high safety, environmental and quality standards, and that where gaps exist they are visible, owned and addressed.Dress CodeWe maintain a professional yet practical dress code depending on the work environment:Office: Smart, professional attire, including a blouse, dress or smart polo (CTI-branded or otherwise), slacks, trousers, jeans (without rips) and dress shoes or smart trainers.Installation Sites: Practical site attire, including CTI-branded polo shirts, site cargo trousers, and provided steel-toe-capped boots. #J-18808-Ljbffr
