Check out our sizzle reel! The Role JPA Health is actively seeking a dynamic Medical Director or experienced Medical Associate Director to join our London team. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping how artificial intelligence enhances medical writing and scientific communications across our agency. It will involve combining scientific leadership, hands-on medical writing expertise, and applied AI capability. The successful candidate will help integrate AI tools into content development workflows while ensuring the highest standards of scientific accuracy, regulatory compliance, ethics, and quality. You will act as both a trusted senior medical lead for clients and a champion of responsible AI use, supporting teams to work smarter, faster, and more creatively without compromising scientific integrity. This position is full-time. Hybrid (London) or remote within the UK, with occasional travel to the London office as needed. Responsibilities Medical & Scientific Leadership • Lead the development, review, and approval of high-complexity medical and scientific content across therapeutic areas and formats., • Act as senior medical reviewer and advisor on client programmes, ensuring accuracy, balance, and compliance., • Provide strategic medical input to account teams and clients, particularly where innovation or digital approaches are involved. AI Integration & Innovation • Across the London team, working with JPA’s AI team in the US, lead the responsible integration of AI-enabled tools (e.g. generative AI, literature analysis, summarisation, content optimisation) into medical writing and other relevant agency workflows., • Identify, evaluate, and pilot AI use cases that improve efficiency, consistency, insight generation, and scalability., • Translate AI capabilities into practical, value-adding solutions for internal teams and clients. Quality, Governance & Compliance • Define and uphold standards for traditional and AI-assisted medical content, including:, • Scientific accuracy and validation, • Transparency and traceability, • Data privacy and confidentiality, • Bias mitigation and ethical use, • Contribute to the development of SOPs, guidance documents, and best-practice frameworks for AI use in medical communications, • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, legal, and industry standards Team Development & Capability Building • Train and mentor JPA colleagues in effective, responsible use of AI tools and emerging trends, • Act as an internal expert and point of reference for AI-related questions in medical content development, • Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability development of medical team members as required New Business • Support client discussions and pitches relating to AI-enabled medical communication to drive organic growth and new business, • Help articulate the agency’s AI capabilities in a compelling, credible, and compliant way, • Contribute to thought leadership through white papers, presentations, workshops, or networking / conference activity. About You Our ideal candidate must have: • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD) in Biomedical Sciences, • 5+ years’ experience at a medical communications agency, • Strong medical writing ability, • Experience developing content for promotional and non-promotional teams, • Applied experience of using AI in medical affairs or commercial activity We would be thrilled if you also have: • Experience in a clinical setting is helpful What Makes Us Different JPA Health offers you the opportunity to work with purpose as you achieve extraordinary results.
