Mechanical Engineer (Factory Maintenance) \n Role Purpose \n To provide expert mechanical maintenance support across a high-volume production facility, ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and contributing to ongoing engineering improvements. This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, precision work, and being actively involved in the day-to-day running of a busy manufacturing site. \n Core Responsibilities \n\n • Conduct planned, reactive, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment\n, • Diagnose mechanical faults quickly and effectively, implementing robust long-term solutions\n, • Support continuous improvement initiatives, contributing engineering insight to process optimisation\n, • Maintain and repair steam systems, compressors, pumps, valves, conveyors, and weighing systems\n, • Produce, modify, and repair components using workshop machinery and fabrication tools\n, • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and internal standards\n, • Collaborate with production teams to reduce downtime and enhance operational performance\n, • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to engineering planning\n\n Required Qualifications & Experience \n\n • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, or substantial proven experience\n, • Strong background infast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environments\n, • 17th Edition IET Electrical Regulations qualification\n, • Demonstrable experience working with:\n, • Steam boilers and associated systems\n, • Compressors, pumps, valves\n, • Conveyor systems and weighing equipment\n, • Advanced workshop capability, including:\n, • Turning, milling, drilling, tapping, helicoiling\n, • Pipefitting and plumbing\n, • Welding, fabrication, cutting, folding, and forming various materials\n, • Proven track record of delivering engineering improvements within a production setting\n, • Strong practical mindset with a proactive, solutions-focused approach\n\n Desirable Attributes \n\n • Ability to work independently and prioritise effectively\n, • Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style\n, • A genuine interest in improving manufacturing processes and equipment performance\n, • Resides ideally within a 15 mile radius of the factory for effective response times\n\n What’s on Offer \n\n • Above industry standard salary, reflective of experience and technical capability\n, • Opportunity to join a long-established, market-leading Scottish manufacturer\n, • A stable, supportive engineering team with ongoing investment in equipment and site development\n, • The chance to influence engineering standards and contribute to continuous improvement projects\n\n
