Belfast or Manchester hybrid - Senior Java Consultant Belfast and Manchester | 5+ years of experience | Hybrid 2-3 days on-site| Up to £50,000 DOE + bonus | British passport or ILR mandatory | Perm About the role We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer who will design and deliver modern solutions for a diverse portfolio of clients. Working within cross-functional teams, you’ll be involved in the full software development lifecycle - from concept through to deployment and maintenance. Key responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain Java applications, • Participate in the full SDLC (design, development, deployment, maintenance), • Contribute to system architecture and solution design, • Build and secure RESTful APIs, • Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, • Troubleshoot production issues and optimise performance, • Create and maintain technical documentation, • Share knowledge and mentor junior developers, • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements Requirements • At least 5+ years of experience with Java (Kotlin/Scala is a plus), • Strong knowledge of Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC), • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, • Solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns, • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, • Familiarity with version control systems (Git), • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines), • Knowledge of at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), • Ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues, • Strong communication skills Nice to have • Message queueing systems (Kafka, SQS), • Serverless technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda), • Monitoring tools (Dynatrace, ELK, Splunk), • JPA / Hibernate, • Swagger / OpenAPI, • Testing tools (Selenium, Postman, etc.), • Experience delivering end-to-end projects Benefits • Annual bonus: approx. 5%, • Work from abroad: up to 4 weeks per year, • 6 months of fully paid paternity leave (no qualifying period), • Flexible public holidays (option to defer), • Hybrid working model (office + remote), • Comprehensive benefits package and wellbeing programmes, • Access to training, certifications, and continuous development What we offer • Opportunity to work on innovative transformation projects, • Exposure to modern technologies and methodologies, • Real impact on products and services, • Continuous professional development and certification support, • Inclusive, collaborative, and supportive work environment, • Culture focused on growth, diversity, and knowledge sharing You’ll be part of a team helping organisations make smarter decisions in a constantly evolving world. Salary: Depending on your experience and performance during the interview process: Belfast: £40,000-£45,000 + £600 in cash benefits Manchester/Newcastle: £45,000-£50,000 + £600 in cash benefits Interview process: • Technical interview with pair programming - 1h, • Culture fit - 1h
