The organization supports high-volume production and packaging operations, maintaining strict standards across all manufacturing processes. Role Overview: The Packaging Mechanic II is responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining packaging equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role, working under limited supervision, supports equipment reliability, production efficiency, and continuous improvement across packaging lines. This is a hands-on, mid-level technical role requiring experience with packaging machinery, changeovers, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting, with the ability to work more independently while ensuring compliance with cGMP, safety, and environmental standards. This role requires flexibility to work across all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) and to work overtime, extended hours, or weekends as needed to support production demands. . Job Requirements: • High school diploma or GED required., • 3–5 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of packaging equipment or industrial machinery, or equivalent combination of education and experience., • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently., • Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and compliance with EHS regulations., • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, gauges, maps, tables, and instrumentation., • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills., • Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings., • Solid math skills, including basic operations, ratios, percentages, and unit conversions., • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment., • Working knowledge or exposure to PLC systems (Programmable Logic Controls) and ladder logic., • Technical school certification or related training., • 3–5 years of mechanical and electrical experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment., • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration in a manufacturing environment., • Frequent standing (up to 8 hours), walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing., • Ability to lift and move items over 50 lbs., • Ability to perform tasks requiring close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception., • Repair Packaging Equipment: Perform repairs on packaging machinery as needed to maintain uptime., • Perform Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to eliminate unscheduled downtime., • Execute Changeovers: Independently perform equipment changeovers to meet production requirements., • Ensure Compliance: Perform all work in accordance with cGMP, safety practices, housekeeping standards, and environmental regulations., • Support Team Collaboration: Participate in team processes and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams., • Manage Tools & Parts: Initiate the purchase of required tools, parts, and materials, and maintain accountability for issued items., • Develop Technical Skills: Continuously upgrade skills as equipment and technology evolve., • Demonstrate Workmanship: Maintain a high level of quality craftsmanship and ownership., • Report Equipment Issues: Notify the Supervisor of breakdowns that require 20 minutes or more to repair., • Work with PLC Systems: Develop familiarity and working knowledge of PLC systems and ladder logic., • Promote Safety: Report health and safety hazards and support corrective actions., • New hires or internal transfers will complete a three-month training and orientation period.
