Job DescriptionThis Internship is open to only SUNY Albany students that are in the social work undergraduate program and or the SUNY MSW 1st year placements. Internship Description: This fall, We are excited to offer an internship opportunity for aspiring social work professionals who are passionate about making a difference in their communities. As a Social Worker Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in facilitating groups, participating in community events, and providing support to individuals in various settings. This internship is ideal for students seeking to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios and develop essential skills for a career in social work. Key Responsibilities: Group Facilitation: • Co-facilitate group sessions in diverse settings such as shelters, correctional facilities, and community-based organizations., • Assist in organizing and participating in community events, including Domestic Violence (DV) awareness month activities and holiday assistance programs., • Engage in the STRIVE program, attending regular sessions and providing support to participants as needed., • Attend trainings on topics such as trafficking awareness and DV education, learning from experts in the field., • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in social work., • Strong interest in working with diverse populations and addressing social issues such as domestic violence and human trafficking., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently., • Cultural sensitivity and awareness of social justice issues., • This internship is unpaid and requires a commitment., • Flexible scheduling may be available to accommodate academic obligations.
