The Opportunity We are seeking a Junior Interior Designer to support the execution of residential interior design across our furnished apartment portfolio. This is an on-site, hands-on role for a design professional with strong residential experience who enjoys developing layouts, selecting furniture, and seeing designs through from planning to on-site installation. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Design, the Junior Interior Designer is responsible for executing complete apartment-level interior schemes based on approved design direction. For new apartment setups, this role translates approved wallpaper or anchor design selections into cohesive, functional, and visually polished residential interiors, including space planning, furniture selection, and accessory styling. This role is ideal for a designer with experience in private residential interiors, model apartments, hospitality environments, or furniture showroom and design consultant roles, who is comfortable balancing design judgment with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment. What You Will Do • Execute complete apartment layouts and furnishing schemes based on approved residential design standards, • Develop thoughtful space plans that balance aesthetics, functionality, and scale, • Select furniture, rugs, artwork, lighting, and accessories from approved vendor assortments, • Produce accurate AutoCAD floor plans and furniture layouts following established space and layout guidelines, • Prepare and present layouts, furnishing selections, and specifications for design leadership review and approval prior to ordering, • Revise layouts and selections based on feedback and approved direction, • Coordinate on-site furniture placement, styling, and final setup to ensure apartments are fully furnished and move-in ready, • Conduct on-site walkthroughs to verify layout accuracy, quality, and alignment with approved designs, • Support apartment upgrades, refreshes, and preparation for professional photography, • Manage furniture requisitions, ordering, and coordination with warehouse and operations teams, • Support apartment deconstructs by assessing furnishings for reuse, redeployment, donation, or disposal, • Manage design- and furniture-related service requests, including replacing broken items and sourcing additional furnishings for occupied apartments, • Track design projects, timelines, and deliverables using Asana, • Maintain accurate design documentation, specifications, and inventory records in Salesforce, WMS, and shared systems, • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field preferred, • 3 to 5 years of professional interior design experience in residential, hospitality, or furnished living environments, • Experience designing private residences, model apartments, or short-term rental units preferred, • Experience working in a furniture showroom or in a design consultant role supporting furniture selection and space planning is strongly preferred, • Demonstrated ability to develop cohesive residential interior schemes, • Strong understanding of space planning, furniture layouts, and FF&E coordination, • Proficiency in AutoCAD required, • Experience using Asana or similar project management tools preferred, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams, • Working knowledge of Salesforce, WMS, or similar systems preferred, • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through, • Comfortable managing multiple apartment projects in a fast-paced, on-site environment, • Strong communication and collaboration skills, • Comfortable with hands-on work, on-site execution, and frequent travel throughout NYC, • Flexibility to support occasional evenings or weekends as business needs require, • Work closely with executive design leadership while owning the execution of real residential interiors, • See your designs come to life in fully furnished, lived-in spaces, • Be part of a collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven culture, • Enjoy meaningful ownership and autonomy within a design execution role, • Contribute directly to an elevated guest experience across a diverse apartment portfolio Furnished Quarters is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
