Met Weld International ("MWI") is seeking a skilled and reliable Plant Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and repair equipment to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and/or electrical background, be safety-focused, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. This is a full time, hourly (non-exempt) position, based in Altamont, NY. Duties and Responsibilities • Perform routine preventive maintenance according to established schedules on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems., • Develop (or refine) and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all plant equipment and infrastructure., • Inspect and diagnose issues with plant equipment, including motors, conveyors, pumps, valves, compressors, and HVAC systems., • Repair and replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and appropriate machinery., • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports., • Maintains files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for various pieces of equipment., • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and reliability., • Ensure compliance with all company safety standards and procedures., • Assist in the installation of new machinery and equipment., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and comply with housekeeping standards., • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs to minimize downtime., • Collaborate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or upgrades., • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; recommend purchases when necessary., • High school diploma or GED required, technical school certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field preferred., • Strong mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail., • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and fabrication., • Proficiency with welding equipment, grinders, cutting torches, and fabrication tools., • Familiarity with PLC systems and control panels., • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints., • Basic computer skills for logging maintenance work and reading system diagnostics (Outlook, Excel)., • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities., • Must have the ability to multi-task, be flexible, motivated, resourceful, and organized to be able to meet critical and short deadlines., • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and building systems. Troubleshoot and repair facility-related equipment including compressors, pumps, and lighting systems., • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly., • Comfortable working in an industrial environment with conditions such as heat, cold, noise, and machinery., • Ability to work in physically demanding environments requiring standing, walking, bending, and climbing ladders., • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required., • Onsite, Monday – Friday, 6 AM – 2:30 PM; occasional overtime and weekend work for emergencies and projects as needed.
