Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE: Supervise the delivery of services provided by Client Care Coordinators (Social Workers) to enhance existing services to homeless families. These individuals also suffer from co-occurring substance use disorders and have histories of criminal legal system involvement. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an evidence-based practice that provides an integrated set of other evidence-based treatment, rehabilitation, case management, and support services delivered by a mobile, multi-disciplinary mental health treatment team to support recipient recovery through a highly individualized approach that provides recipients with the tools to obtain and maintain housing, employment, relationships and relief from symptoms and medication side effects. The Substance Use Specialist is a Master level mental health clinician who outreaches clients in the community to provide treatment and services with high fidelity to the ACT model. The Substance Use Specialist provides psychoeducation and support for clients’ substance use treatment needs, including but not limited to: coordination of detox or rehab referrals, assessment of clients’ current substance use and stages of change, advocacy with service providers to ensure clients receive clinically appropriate substance use treatment. if a client did not attend assist with rescheduling & addressing any barriers, • Utilize motivational interviewing if a client does not want to participate or be linked to treatment; attempt to understand your client’s perspective or misconceptions, remove any barriers, and attempt to re-engage, • Provide therapeutic groups (music, art, general support groups for caregivers or children); facilitate group work to address family issues, enhance life skills, etc., • Participate in family meetings with case management & housing staff to discuss planning efforts & progress, • Assist clients with completing applications for supportive housing and accompany residents to supportive housing interviews when necessary, • Upon linkage to permanent housing, complete and discuss exit summary with family, and provide the family with referrals and supportive services identified in new community, • Utilize fact sheets, desk guides, and other material resources in delivering mental health services, • Complete all documentation in a timely manner; ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS: Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and implement age-appropriate dance and drama curriculum, including music selection, choreography, acting techniques, scripts, and improvisational activities that support progressive learning., • Lead performing arts classes by demonstrating techniques, providing constructive feedback, and fostering skill development in a positive and encouraging environment., • Maintain a safe performing arts space by promoting proper warm-ups, stretching, injury prevention practices, and ensuring all equipment is hazard-free., • Coordinate and organize performances or show cases that highlight campers’ talents and build confidence as performers., • Supervise and engage campers during field trips, ensuring their safety and positive participation throughout the experience., • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Highschool Diploma or equivalent., • Demonstrated ability to lead activities with children and teens., • Knowledgeable in dance/performing arts is required., • Prior experience successfully teaching dance/performing arts is a plus., • Childcare or day camp experience is a plus., • Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and up to date on all required immunizations., • Additional special skills and certifications (First Aid, CPR, EMT, etc.) are a plus. TIME SHIFT: 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday Includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break (7 paid hours per day) Shifts scheduled between 7:30am – 6:30pm HOURLY RATE: $17 - $22 an hour
