Job Description Line Cook (Griddle, Cold Line, Trompo & More) – Taqueria Zorro Location: North Beach, San Francisco, CA Reports To: Kitchen Manager & Owner About Taqueria Zorro: We’re a vibrant, fast-paced taqueria in the heart of North Beach, serving locals, tourists, and late-night crowds with authentic flavors and exceptional hospitality. Our mission is to deliver the freshest, most flavorful Mexican dishes with top-tier service, every time. Position Summary We’re seeking a dependable, energetic Line Cook who takes pride in working a busy line, maintaining high standards, and delivering a consistent, delicious product. You’ll work multiple stations—griddle, cold line, fryer, trompo (vertical broiler), stove, oven—and help prep, clean, and even step in to provide excellent customer service when needed. Key Responsibilities * Cook & Assemble: * Grill meats, toast tortillas, and prepare hot items on the griddle. * Work the trompo (vertical al pastor broiler) with skill and care. * Operate the fryer for chips, taco shells, and other menu items. * Prepare items on the stove & oven, ensuring proper temps & cooking times. * Plate and assemble cold line items including burritos, bowls, tacos, nachos, salads & more. * Prep & Stock: * Follow recipes & prep lists to ensure station is stocked and ready. * Chop, marinate, portion, and label ingredients to maintain freshness. * Prepare salsas, guacamoles, pico de gallo, and other key sauces daily. * Clean & Organize: * Keep work areas sanitized and organized throughout shift. * Complete end-of-shift cleaning checklists, including equipment & floors. * Maintain proper food safety standards, including checking sanitizer buckets and food temps. * Customer Service: * Smile and engage with guests when on the line or handing food over. * Assist front-of-house staff during busy periods or as needed. * Teamwork & Culture: * Support fellow team members and jump in wherever needed. * Be open to training and cross-training—help make sure everything from the line to the restroom is clean, stocked, and welcoming. * Uphold Taqueria Zorro’s commitment to friendly, efficient, and consistent service. What We’re Looking For * Experience in a fast-paced kitchen, ideally in a taqueria or QSR environment. * Comfortable working multiple stations and switching roles as needed. * Knowledge of safe food handling, temperatures, and sanitation standards. * Good communication skills—can take direction and also share ideas. * Strong work ethic, punctuality, and pride in keeping things clean and organized. * Bilingual Spanish/English a plus but not required.
