Our newest location in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco is seeking an experienced, dependable, and team-oriented Manager on Duty (MOD) to help lead daily store operations. We are hiring for 1 part-time position and a candidate with flexible availability, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays is preferred. The ideal candidate will play a key leadership role, supporting front-line staff, ensuring an exceptional customer experience, and fostering a positive, collaborative workplace culture. This position serves as a bridge between departments, customers, and upper management, ensuring smooth communication and efficient operations throughout the store. Prior experience in buying and receiving is preferred. The individual will lead by example, uphold our store values, and support both team morale and operational success. Job Title:Manager on Duty (MOD) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Management Location: West Portal - San Francisco, CA Hourly Range: $22.50- $27.00 (Training Rate: $21.50) Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Engages the customer in a friendly manner, shares product information, and assists in locating products throughout the store. Seeks opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience, • Guides the work of others, ensures staff complete daily opening/closing checklists, plans and assigns work to ensure quality standards are met, trains staff, and oversees their productivity as directed by Management, • Ensures each department follows cash handling, register, and return procedures, • Processes returns per policy and assists cashiers with complex returns, • Makes notes of any unusual transactions for management, • Performs all functions of opening or closing the store, including counting the safe, preparing drawers, pulling daily reports, performing loans, cash drops, and exchanges. Maintains cashier bank per department policy, monitors cash flow, • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events, • Demonstrates familiarity with products throughout the store, with a willingness to continue learning., • Notifies Management of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security, or any other situation that may adversely affect the store., • Rings up and bags customer purchases, performs carry-outs., • Coordinates front-end coverage; runs line chart, ensuring that all front-end staff receive breaks and lunches. Ensures consistent service levels and calls for back-up as needed, • Assists with ordering duties assigned by management, including placing orders, breaking down loads, ensuring items are properly faced with proper sales tags, and notifying management if tags are needed or if an item needs to be entered into the system, • Trains new hires and retrains established staff to meet corporate standards, • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy, • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies, • Resolves issues of items not scanning properly, inputs items into POS, or notifies management of complex issues with products, prints labels, pulls items for credits, • Assists with financial duties, including scanning and organizing invoices, • Works to be cross-trained in all departments to be able to step in for call-outs, • Maintains accountability while the GM or AGM is not in the store, responds to customer and employee issues, and works diligently to protect the store and ensure the store runs effectively. If an issue does arise, MOD should follow established procedures and report all issues to management or ownership.
