Job Description Job Title: Forklift Operator / Equipment Handler Job Description The Forklift Operator / Equipment Handler supports daily warehouse operations by safely and efficiently operating material handling equipment, with a strong focus on forklifts. This role involves loading and unloading at dock doors, moving and staging cargo, performing basic equipment care, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment. Responsibilities • Operate stand-up, sit-down, slip sheet, and double reach forklifts safely and efficiently to move products throughout the warehouse., • Perform daily maintenance checks and minor repairs on warehouse equipment, including forklifts, to ensure safe and reliable operation., • Schedule and conduct routine forklift inspections and promptly report any issues or defects., • Maintain accurate records of forklift inspections, equipment servicing, and related maintenance activities., • Assist in receiving, identifying, staging, and dispatching goods in accordance with warehouse procedures., • Load and unload containers and trailers at dock doors, including ocean containers, ensuring safe handling and proper placement of cargo., • Lift, carry, and move boxes and materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily warehouse activities., • Ensure all trailers placed in the dock are properly locked and secured before loading or unloading., • Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to process shipments, track inventory, and complete inventory transactions accurately., • Organize and maintain inventory related to warehouse equipment, parts, and materials to support continuous operations., • Ensure accuracy in shipment handling, including correct labeling, documentation, and placement of goods., • Apply basic knowledge of import and export processes, including labeling and documentation requirements, when handling cargo., • Support cargo staging activities, ensuring freight is properly organized, identified, and prepared for loading or dispatch., • Follow all company standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and OSHA requirements while performing all tasks., • Keep dock areas and workstations clean, safe, and well-organized to support efficient and hazard-free operations., • Promote teamwork and collaboration by communicating effectively with colleagues and supporting other warehouse functions as needed. Essential Skills • Proven warehouse experience in a fast-paced environment., • Demonstrated proficiency operating multiple forklift types, including stand-up, sit-down, double reach, and slip sheet forklifts., • OSHA Forklift License/Certification (required)., • Hands-on experience with loading and unloading ocean containers at dock level., • Practical knowledge of warehouse equipment care, basic maintenance, and safe handling practices., • Ability to use RF scanners to scan, track, and manage inventory and shipments., • Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory and shipment processing., • Ability to perform shipping and receiving tasks, including checking, labeling, and documenting incoming and outgoing goods., • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift., • Strong commitment to safety, organization, and completing tasks accurately and on time. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Basic knowledge of import and export processes, including cargo labeling and documentation., • Experience with reach trucks and slip sheet attachments in a warehouse environment., • Experiene in material handling, inventory control, and cargo staging., • Bilingual communication skills, with a preference for Spanish., • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse warehouse team and support cross-functional operations. Work hours may align with typical warehouse shifts and can include periods of high activity during loading, unloading, and staging operations, requiring focus, situational awareness, and safe equipment handling at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Miami, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
