Job Description Job Title: Inventory Specialist Job Description The Inventory Specialist accurately receives, stores, issues, and tracks materials and tools within a manufacturing environment. This role maintains precise inventory records, ensures the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments, and supports production by safely operating material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts and overhead cranes. Responsibilities • Receive and count stock items to maintain accurate inventory levels., • Stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment., • Run inventory reports and update records in ERP systems and RF scanners to ensure data accuracy., • Dispatch parts and record all transactions to keep inventory information current and reliable., • Store items in warehouse, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other designated areas in an organized manner., • Inspect incoming parts and materials, identifying and recording any damage, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications., • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation and system records., • Prepare work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to support shipping and logistics activities., • Issue tools, equipment, and supplies as requested, ensuring proper documentation and control., • Clean supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to maintain a safe and orderly work environment., • Report broken or defective tools and equipment promptly to support timely repair or replacement., • Safely load and unload materials using a sit-down forklift., • Operate an overhead crane in accordance with safety procedures to move heavy materials., • Support order pulling and picking activities to fulfill internal and external requests., • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient material flow within the manufacturing facility. Essential Skills • Minimum 2+ years of inventory experience in a manufacturing environment., • Proficiency operating a sit-down forklift for loading, unloading, and material movement., • Experience operating an overhead crane in a production or warehouse setting., • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and RF scanners for inventory tracking and transaction processing., • Proven experience in order pulling and picking within a warehouse or manufacturing environment., • Ability to accurately receive, count, and record stock items and maintain precise inventory records., • Skill in verifying accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and identifying discrepancies., • Ability to prepare work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders accurately and efficiently., • Capability to inspect parts for damage, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications and document findings., • Comfort working in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment across different shifts., • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly workspace., • Ability to follow safety procedures when operating material handling equipment and handling materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Heavy forklift experience (36K capacity) is a plus., • Experience operating a reach truck is preferred., • Experience operating a cherry picker is preferred., • Familiarity with issuing tools, equipment, and supplies in a tool room or warehouse environment., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and adapt to changing priorities. Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment designed to support comfort and consistent operations throughout the year. Team members work with material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts, overhead cranes, and potentially heavy forklifts, reach trucks, and cherry pickers. The position follows a shift-based schedule, with a 1st shift running from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM and a 2nd shift from 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness in warehouse, tool room, and storage areas while supporting efficient production and inventory control. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77065. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
