Job Description Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports, they need to thrive. CAMBA’S Food Programs, made up of the Beyond Hunger Emergency Food Pantry and the NOEP Program, work to ensure that no one in Brooklyn goes hungry. The Beyond Hunger Emergency Food Pantry, in Partnership with a number of different government and private entities including the NYS Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP), United Way of NYC (UWNYC), Food Bank of New York, City Harvest, and NYC Human Resource Administration (HRA), distributes a 3 day supply of 3 meals per day of nutritional food to CAMBA clients-as well as those referred to us by churches and other agencies – due to hunger or lack of funds for adequate food purchase. Services also include food stamp screening, application assistance and referrals for application assistance. Additionally, the program brings in a number of different providers to provide information and referrals for nutritional education and support, other benefits and services to help improve client’s health, maximize their household income and help them move toward greater self-sufficiency. The NOEP Program provides outreach to individuals and families who may be eligible for Food Stamps. Staff assists eligible persons in filling out their applications and provides referrals to other food and nutritional resources. A Driver is City Harvest’s front-line ambassador in the community. S/he is responsible for visiting donors to accept food and deliver food to designated agencies across the five boroughs in a safe, courteous, and timely manner while maintaining a neat appearance both for self and assigned equipment. • Be courteous and polite when picking up and delivering food. Be willing to accommodate customers’ needs., • Delivers product in a safe and timely manner complying with safe food-handling practices and ServSafe requirements., • Operate a City Harvest truck safely and in compliance with motor vehicle laws. Leadership and Management • Recruit a strong team of educational leaders for church school and other Riverside programming for children and families., • Provide leadership, development, and direction for church school leaders and other adults who volunteer with programming., • Provide leadership and management for summer staff, • Provide leadership and management for childcare staff hired to serve in the nursery and preschool areas., • Evaluate lay and employed staff and volunteers., • Create a space where our youngest congregants feel safe and welcomed., • M.Div. degree (or comparable graduate education) and minimum five (5) years of experience in this area., • Educational or teaching experience with children of varying ages, abilities, demographics, and backgrounds., • Teaching or pastoral experience in a congregation with a multi-cultural membership and diverse staff., • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal., • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other ministries and staff., • Superb skill in administration, budgeting, and staff supervision., • Theological understanding consistent with the core values of the Riverside Church.
