Mechanical Engineer | HVAC Design | Plumbing Design | MEP Consulting | DFW Job Description I’m working with several well-established MEP consulting and A&E design firms across the Dallas-Fort Worth area that are actively hiring Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Designers, Senior Mechanical Engineers, and Project Engineers. These opportunities are focused on mechanical building systems design across commercial, healthcare, higher education, mission-critical, data center, industrial, mixed-use, municipal, lab, life science, and large-scale facility projects. This is a strong fit for someone who wants more than just production work. The right person will stay hands-on with HVAC and plumbing design while gaining exposure to complex projects, client coordination, technical leadership, mentorship, and long-term growth into project management or discipline leadership. Responsibilities • Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems for new construction, renovations, expansions, tenant improvements, and facility upgrades, • Develop construction documents, design drawings, mechanical plans, specifications, schedules, and technical design packages, • Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork layout, piping layout, ventilation design, hydronic system design, and energy code analysis, • Work on air handling units, VAV systems, chilled water systems, hot water systems, pumps, boilers, chillers, exhaust systems, plumbing distribution, sanitary, storm, and domestic water systems, • Support design for mission-critical facilities, data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, commercial buildings, higher education campuses, municipal facilities, and large complex buildings, • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, electrical engineers, plumbing designers, structural teams, civil teams, and other project stakeholders, • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, site observations, punch walks, and construction administration items, • Use Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Navisworks, TRACE 3D Plus, HAP, Bluebeam, and related design tools depending on project scope Ideal Background • Experience in MEP consulting, A&E, architectural engineering, building systems design, or facilities engineering, • Mechanical design experience focused on HVAC, plumbing, piping, hydronics, ventilation, energy modeling, or complex building systems, • Project experience across commercial, healthcare, higher education, mission-critical, data center, industrial, municipal, lab, or large facility environments, • Strong understanding of mechanical codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, IMC, IPC, NFPA, and general building design requirements, • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD is strongly preferred, • EIT, PE, or interest in pursuing licensure is a plus, • Experience with client communication, interdisciplinary coordination, QA/QC, field coordination, or mentoring junior staff is a plus What These Opportunities Offer • Competitive compensation based on experience, technical skill set, and licensure, • Hybrid and flexible schedule options with multiple firms across DFW, • Opportunity to work on high-impact, technically complex projects with strong long-term backlog, • Clear path into Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Mechanical Discipline Lead roles, • Strong mentorship from licensed PEs and experienced technical leaders, • Exposure to mission-critical, data center, healthcare, commercial, higher education, municipal, and large facility design work, • Chance to join growing MEP teams with strong project pipelines and real career upside If you have experience in mechanical building systems, HVAC design, plumbing design, Revit, AutoCAD, MEP consulting, or complex facility design, I’d be happy to connect and share what is active across the DFW market.
