Position: Assistant Manager – NYC (First U.S. Location) What You'll Do As Assistant Manager, you'll be the heartbeat of our new NYC “farm”: Operations & Leadership • Ensure smooth day‑to‑day flow: service execution, health & safety compliance, cleanliness, and leak‑tight operational systems Team Growth & Culture • Recruit, train, mentor, and retain a team of ~10-15 (Front‑of‑House), • Build a positive culture in line with our six core values: We Give a Fork, Bold but Humble, Start from Scratch, Willing to Learn, Colorful, Committed & Conscious, and The “Wow” Factor., • Propel career development—guide Farmers toward leadership roles. Guest Experience & Brand Ambassadorship • Set the tone for hospitality through exceptional guest connection and consistent service standards, • Act as the face of Farmer J in NYC—cultivate community engagement (local farmers’ partnerships, mental health events, sustainability pop‑ups) Quality, Compliance & Sustainability • Guarantee start‑from‑scratch cooking, seasonal recipe integrity, allergen protocols, and vendor traceability, • Oversee recycling, composting, and biodegradable packaging goals (95%+ packaging sustainability) Marketing & Community Activation • Localize campaigns in coordination with HQ marketing teams (e.g. Fieldtray launches, seasonal menu rollouts, animal‑therapy or community events) ✅ What We’re Looking For Experience & Leadership • 2+ years managing high‑volume, high‑quality fast‑casual or café‑style restaurants, • Passionate about people development—coaching, mentoring and retaining talent, • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to give clear direction and build strong working relationships across the team and with guests; must be able to communicate effectively in English with guests and staff, • Systems proficiency including Microsoft Office, Toast, CrunchTime, and others Brand Commitment • Deep appreciation for scratch cooking, seasonality, ingredient integrity, welfare‑driven sourcing and eco‑conscious operations, • Enthusiastic champion of Farmer J’s culture and values Farmer J Fit • You Give a Fork—about food, about people, about doing things the right way, • You care about where ingredients come from and the impact of how we cook, • You bring energy, warmth, and a humble desire to keep improving ????
