Job Description Summary Streetwork Project is an innovative outreach-counseling program for homeless youth in Harlem, which utilizes a harm reduction approach providing comprehensive services to adolescents and young adults impacted by homelessness and involved in street activities (gangs, violence, drug use/sale and survival sex). The Youth Services Navigator will promote access to harm reduction supplies and services at Streetwork’s Drop-In Center, with a focus on LGBTQ youth and youth of color at risk of SUDs Youth Services Navigators (YSN) will facilitate and conduct one-on-one harm reduction goal setting intervention for drug using clients. Youth Services Navigators will provide overdose prevention and response trainings for drug users. Job Description Summary: Safe Horizon’s Family Focused Program provides comprehensive trauma-informed client-centered services to families who are affected by intimate partner violence and are involved in the child welfare system. Our goal is help those who have experienced physical, emotional or other forms of abuse to establish long-term safety and healing from the effects of trauma. Job Description Summary Streetwork Project is the oldest street outreach program for homeless and street-involved youth in New York City. The program has grown from its beginnings in 1984 as a storefront project to encompass both outreach and comprehensive harm reduction services. The core service is long-term, one-on-one counseling, which is offered in a non-judgmental and holistic manner utilizing a harm reduction approach that focuses on building trust, fostering self-esteem, exploring options and choices, and empowering youth to change their high-risk behaviors. As part of our continuum of services we operate an emergency housing program for homeless youth in NYC, Streetwork Overnight. The Overnight is a 24 bed facility for youth ages 16-20. It is open from 7 pm to 10 am 7 days a week. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to support the youth while they are in our crisis shelter. As part of our continuum of services, we also provide overnight outreach in teams of two seven nights a week (7 pm to 3 am), throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to meet the most disenfranchised youth while they are in crisis. Casual Youth Advocates work part-time and on-call, filling in for full-time youth advocate absences at the Overnight and Outreach program. These individuals provide comprehensive services to adolescents and young adults impacted by homelessness and involved in street activities (gangs, violence, drug use/sale and survival sex). Services provided by casual youth advocates are the same as full-time youth advocates and include assessment, case planning, case facilitation and management, counseling, referrals, outreach, crisis transportation, daily living services (food, shower, respite), and groups. These Youth Advocates coordinate with Safe Horizon supporting programs and local agencies to provide short- and long-term care necessary to meet the wide range of needs related to homeless adolescents. Job Description Summary: Streetwork Project is the oldest street outreach program for homeless and street-involved youth in New York City. The program has grown from its beginnings in 1984 as a storefront project to encompass both outreach and comprehensive harm reduction services. Job DescriptionSummary: Streetwork Project is an innovative outreach-counseling program for homeless youth in Harlem, which utilizes a comprehensive harm reduction approach that informs all facets of client work. The Housing Advocate will provide advocacy services to adolescents and young adults impacted by homelessness, poverty and mental illness, many of whom are involved in street activities (gangs, violence, drug use/sale and survival sex). The main client-base for this position will be homeless young people with serious and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders. The Housing Advocate will work with clients on accessing shelter and permanent housing. The core of the shelter assistance will be supporting clients with referrals to and advocacy within youth shelters (DYCD), domestic violence shelters (DV), and adult homeless shelters (DHS) including both singles and family shelters. The core of the housing assistance will be the completion of supportive housing applications, completion of applications for housing vouchers (including but not limited to Section 8, City FHEPS, HASA), assisting clients who have vouchers in locating and moving into appropriate housing which includes landlord outreach and engagement, and New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) applications. This will include advocacy with DHS (the NYC Department of Homeless Services) and HRA (the NYC Human Resources Administration) and will necessarily include advocacy for acquiring and navigating cash assistance and disability-income programs. The Housing Advocate will be a technical resource on individual cases with case managers and other staff members and provide trainings to Streetwork staff (and other Safe Horizon program staff) as well as conduct relevant outreach and Know-Your-Rights workshops for clients. This is not an entry-level position. We are only considering attorneys with 5+ years of relevant federal trial experience, especially those with a background in procurement fraud, healthcare fraud defense, False Claims Act litigation, and white-collar investigations. This role is ideal for former DOJ attorneys, AUSAs, or federal enforcement lawyers seeking part-time work on high-stakes federal cases. It is also well-suited for semi-retired attorneys or independent litigators looking to expand their case portfolio without the burden of a full-time schedule.
