Responsibilities include: ● Ensure a learning environment based on the Creative Curriculum approach that helps the children develop physically, emotionally, socially, cognitively and creatively. ● Support the implementation of activities that will promote social, emotional, cognitive, physical and creative development of children. ● Adhere to all Head Start Performance standards in addition to the Agency mandates of United Community Day Care center. ● Assume responsibility for the operation of the classroom, in the absence of the Group Teacher, thus holding the teacher aide and substitute accountable to their duties and responsibilities. ● Share job related knowledge with team members so as to promote and support their professional growth. ● Participate in regularly scheduled staff & team meetings, classroom development workshops on and off site as well as training conducted by UCDCC, ACS and other funders. ● performs center- related services/activities such as parent/teacher conferences, transition meetings, end of year celebrations, etc. ● Share information regarding children and the program with parents via daily contact and informal/formal interfacings, newsletters, etc. ● Encourage parents to visit classrooms to observe as well as volunteer during the course of the day. ● Work closely with parents to foster mutual respect on all levels. ● Encourage parents in their role as their children’s primary teachers by acting as resource person (i.e.: disseminating information, actively listening to parents, offering suggestions, etc.). ● Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/families via open communications, training and other developmental activities ● Elicit input from teacher aide to complete written observations, progress reports, outcomes reporting, CROWD and other documents relevant to the tracking of children’s progress. ● Assist Group Teacher utilize information obtained via observations, conferences, tracking, etc. to design developmentally appropriate and individualized lesson plans. ● Adhere to Agency (UCDCC) policies and procedures; seeks guidance/clarification from Educational Director re: interpretation, applicability and implementation. ● Strictly adhere to, and enforce, the Agency policy regarding Confidentiality and HIPAA requirements. ● Other related duties as assigned, consistent with the above. Position Summary The Theater & Audio Visual Technician will support all technical theater & student activity events throughout all divisions at ECFS, with particular reference to the auditorium at the Bronx campus, supporting New York Society of Ethical Culture Adler Theater. This position requires flexibility and frequent availability outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, to support and staff special events and will report directly to the Executive Director of Technology. Job Description Director of Education and Formation (Children and Families) Location: The Riverside Church in the City of New York (New York, NY) Reports to: Minister of Intergenerational Christian Education & Formation Department: Education Scheduled Work Week: Full Time 35 hrs Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000 JOB SUMMARY: Serving as an integral part of the Education and Formation Team, the Director provides pastoral leadership, management, intergenerational worship, and program planning for the entire Riverside Church community including children, youth, families and adults of all ages with a primary focus on children and families. This individual brings a diverse set of skills to a multi-faceted range of responsibilities that cross musical, educational, developmental, liturgical, generational, ecumenical, and demographic boundaries. This person embodies the best practices of education and worship to facilitate spaces and experiences that invite children and families to engage the Riverside Church and our faith to their fullest potential. The Director collaborates with the Education and Formation Team to create a long-term vision for children and families at The Riverside Church and their integration into the full life of the worshiping community. This person also inspires a team of lay leaders, childcare workers, adult volunteers, and Education Commission members to partner in this vision and enact it on a large scale. Finally, the Director advocates, along with the Education and Formation Team, for the further inclusion of children and families and their needs in worship, bringing the ministry into the 21st century of progressive educational thought and practice. Essential Job Responsibilities • Implement curriculum and materials that enrich the faith formation of preschoolers and school-aged children., • Help create worship experiences founded in best practices of play, exploration, and discovery., • Co-create, with the Minister for Intergenerational Christian Education and Formation and the Director of Youth and College/Early Career Adults, faith formation experiences in addition to church school and Sunday morning worship that serve to help children connect to the Bible, the way of Jesus, other Christians, other forms of spirituality, and other faith traditions., • Provide opportunities for integrating children and adults in healthy, mutually beneficial intergenerational contexts, such as Family Worship, Children’s Sabbath, and the Family Christmas Eve service., • Explore new and fresh ways to make children and families feel more comfortable in corporate worship experiences., • Ensure education volunteers and staff follow church Safe Sanctuary policies. Family Engagement • Work with the Minister of Intergenerational Christian Education & Formation to create a robust support system for parents and guardians., • Design monthly gatherings to promote family interconnectedness and relationship building., • Explore new and fresh ways to engage families during the summer months., • Develop and sustain existing partnerships with community organizations that advocate for justice issues that impact children and families., • Develop and sustain programming that engages the children in our New York City neighborhood, such as the Harvest Festival., • Explore possibilities for summer engagement of area children with Riverside children. Collaboration • Partner with the worship team to create worship experiences in the nave that enrich the faith formation of children and families., • Utilize gifts of writing, music, and storytelling to communicate the gospel in intergenerational ways., • Partner with the Minister of Social Justice to educate children and families on the importance of justice work., • Create pathways toward activism and service that are appropriate for children and families., • Partner with the Minister of Parish Care to facilitate counseling and care for children and families., • Communicate with Directors of children’s choirs to facilitate transitions between education, choir, and worship participation., • Partner with the ministry to older adults to create connections between age groups., • Partner with the Director of Youth and College/Early Career Adults on children and youth worship planning and implementation. Leadership and Management • Recruit a strong team of educational leaders for church school and other Riverside programming for children and families., • Provide leadership, development, and direction for church school leaders and other adults who volunteer with programming., • Provide leadership and management for summer staff, • Provide leadership and management for childcare staff hired to serve in the nursery and preschool areas., • Evaluate lay and employed staff and volunteers., • Create a space where our youngest congregants feel safe and welcomed., • M.Div. degree (or comparable graduate education) and minimum five (5) years of experience in this area., • Educational or teaching experience with children of varying ages, abilities, demographics, and backgrounds., • Teaching or pastoral experience in a congregation with a multi-cultural membership and diverse staff., • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal., • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other ministries and staff., • Superb skill in administration, budgeting, and staff supervision., • Theological understanding consistent with the core values of the Riverside Church. Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Program Officer of Intentional Design for an Equitable Academy (IDEA) and working closely with IDEA program and Communications staff, this internship will provide programmatic support to the 2025-26 competition of the ACLS Digital Justice Grant program, which supports digital projects across the humanities and interpretative social sciences that critically engage with the interests and histories of people of color and other historically marginalized communities through the ethical use of digital tools and methods. The IDEA Digital Humanities intern will support the programs fall webinar series through direct engagement with digital humanities interlocutors; compile and analyze relevant program data, while drafting summary notes; and process submitted applications, under the supervision of the IDEA Senior Program Officer. The Digital Humanities program intern will expand their scholarly network in digital humanities, as well as gain concrete experience in program strategy, design, outreach, and assessment. This role is a remote position that requires no more than 20 hours per week with flexible work hours. The pay rate for this position is $30/hour for a term of 15 weeks starting in September. Overview of Department The Intentional Design for an Equitable Academy (IDEA) unit draws on human-centered design as a methodology for developing activities and convenings where we can re-envision academias culture, policies, and practices. Led by the IDEA Director, the unit includes the Intention Foundry (IF), the ACLS Digital Justice Grant Program, and the Leadership Institute for a New Academy (LINA). ACLS takes this moment as a call for cultivating opportunities for reparative intervention and transformative engagement that further ACLS efforts to enhance equity, justice, and well-being for scholars within and beyond the academy. The core aims of IDEA include: • Curating and facilitating forums for collaborative visioning and planning that bridge groups across the higher education ecosystem., • Developing curriculum & experiential opportunities for re-envisioning key power systems, taking deep dives into challenging issues, and strategizing for substantive change., • Designing initiatives that strive to alter the status quo of systems in academia, while working to support the most vulnerable in navigating systems as they currently exist., • Establishing new partnerships to engage constituencies (particularly those facing underinvestment in the academy) in people-centered equity-advancing efforts. Responsibilities • Prepare materials for Fall outreach webinar series, including attending pre-session meetings with invited interlocutors, taking notes during those meetings, and drafting discussion points and questions for public webinars, • Video edit materials from webinars for public consumption, cleaning up transcripts, managing supplementary materials webpage, • Collect survey data from prospective applicants, interlocutors, and reviewers, • Draft summary notes about various program components for assessment and evaluation, • Process submitted applications after competition deadline under supervision of Senior Program Officer Qualifications • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of (within the past 2 years), a graduate program (e.g. MA, PhD, MLIS) with a concentration or focus in digital humanities, • Working knowledge of digital humanities methods and tools, as well as familiarity with scholarly projects, debates, and conversations within the digital humanities ecosystem, • Excellent oral and written communication skills, • Qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, • Proficiency with WordPress, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva Preferred Skills • Ability to exercise deep empathy, compassion, and understanding alongside an ethics of care, • Demonstrated commitment to and engagement with justice, equity, and well-being initiatives and efforts, • Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently, • Highly organized, detail-oriented with ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines remote work
