Job DescriptionJob Title: Manual MachinistJob Description The Machinist is responsible for analyzing specifications to operate all mold shop machinery, fabricating thermoform molds, tooling, and closure and label machinery parts. Additionally, the role involves repairing existing molds and hi-die cutting knives. Responsibilities • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces., • Determine sequence of operation for fabrication and setup requirements of work pieces and machine tools., • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to fabricate parts., • Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications., • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut., • Enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control data., • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required., • Verify and document critical dimensions and alignment of thermoform tool and components assemblies per inspection procedures using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring instruments., • Perform additional duties as assigned.Essential Skills, • Proficiency in tool and die work., • Mechanical skills and understanding., • Experience with grinding and fabrication., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints., • Experience with mills and lathes., • Skill in using micrometers and calipers., • Capability to operate manual lathe and manual mill., • Experience with drill press operations., • Ability to communicate one-on-one and in groups., • Understanding of instructions and ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)., • Logical reasoning and problem-solving skills., • Mathematical skills including shop math, geometry, and trigonometry., • Technical understanding of thermoformed (sheet) plastic formation.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Opportunities for growth within the company.
